Why do people come on here, and make comments that do not pertain to these products, specifically, or complain about the cost of them? The products are free, and when I come to look at reviews, before downloading the product, I would like to see reviews of the product! Come on, people! FREE! There is not much in life that is truly free anymore. Some people have put some hard work into this site, to offer us some FREE software, and the greedy individuals still complain!
The complaints have nothing to do with the products! Who cares if another product is free, that does the same thing? That is not what the comments section is for! Go talk about it to your friends...not somebody who wants some real info, about the product of interest, that day! Thanks in advance!

Irfan Skiljan, if you read this, PLEASE consider updating your (Irfanview) program's GUI! It's 12+ years overdue.

But...do NOT use this program as an GUI to emulate. I can understand why the Context Menu is so heralded a feature here, for having to look at its GUI for very long would discourage anyone from using it very much. Pretty "creative", but utterly too-cartoonish. Besides, the same filters are found on a dozen other similar utilities, so no big deal for that.

Why not just skip the GUI, and simple sell the program as a Context Utility exclusively? Sorry, but thanks, anyway.

Does either Irfan View or Faststone Image View have the ability to watermark photos? I have been trying to find a program that will allow me to watermark my photos.

I too use photoshop a lot and yep, sometimes it is a big deal to open it all up for just a minor adjustment, so this makes a great program for a fast and simple way of handling the simple as well.
Oh..installed like butter !
Thanks...

Glen Martin #52. I checked the Help menu and there is no "Order" listed. There is a "Buy ImageBadger," but that just takes you to their website, same as "Visit ImageBadger wesite."

However, under Help>About, it says that it is registered and is the FULL version.

ImageBadger Deluxe 4.82
If you didn,t know, I`m a graphics freak. Anything to do with photos or graphic desiign grabs me. Must try it,even if it`s just the update.

Small fast opening. Can open psd files. Change Graphic formats. Good points, otherwise very common. Ugly interface. Clumsy to work with. I gave it up last time. May do it again. I have graphic apps by the bucket full .Just seen I`m being forced to buy the very expensive Over priced Photoshop.
ImageBadger KO for free, Just not what is needed for pro work. Quick help may sometimes do the job. Thanks to all who have alternate suggestions, I`m Trying themas all.

Rebooted and got my cursor back, but still says trial version in help file?
However, under "about" on the help drop down, it says registered (full version)so it looks like I'm good to go. Been playing around a little. Seems like a cool little app . . . I like the "sketch" filter.
Thanks GAOTD
I'll keep it . . . and the uninstall file.

I went ahead and installed this program. Got a box that said it was activated. Opened the program and immediately noticed that my cursor wouldn't show on top of program. Closed and opened it again. Same issue. Went to the help file, looked around, opened "order" to find this
"This is a limited trial version of ImageBadger. The trial has all the functionality, but is limited to a 50-conversion trial.
You can purchase the full version of the program from only $19.95 to enjoy unlimited use of ImageBadger."
What gives?
Would someone else open their help file and check under "order" to see if this is specific to my install, or if we're getting a trial version.
I've never had a problem w/GAOTD dl's/activation before.
Can't really comment further at the moment.

#28, turkishvan007, #46, SocialWorker, if you read my various postings here and on BladedThoth's forum, you'll see that I distinguish between ignorance, which we all posses about things until we learn about them, and outright stupidity and arrogance. I have a low tolerance for incorrect comments which falsely claim some kind of malware issue with the offerings here on GOTD. Criticising a product because it doesn't function well or properly, or because there are better or always-free competitors (but only if you've bothered to actually compare the products, which almost no one does) is fine. Claiming that it has some kind of vague malware issue when it doesn't, sets me off because large numbers of ignorant people will believe it and won't even try the product. See for yourself what happens here. Someone implies that a product does something bad to your system, or sends your life history to everyone on the Internet, and large numbers of readers automatically believe them, give them a thumbs-up, and post comments about how they're not going to download the product because it does something bad to their computers. Oh, my, someone said something bad about this product, it must be true! They must know what they're talking about because they posted here! Actually, the same thing happens with incorrect negative comments in general. Someone could claim that ImageBadger doesn't work with pictures, and a bunch of people would give them a thumbs-up, just because they said something bad about the product. When posting in public forums, one has an obligation to ensure that one's posts are correct and accurate. I would never claim that I don't make mistakes, but at least I make an effort to post accurate information (and if I post something incorrect, I consider it the obligation of others to correct me, that's what public forums are for). Sometimes, you can use a carrot, but sometimes you have no choice but to use the stick. No apologies here.

This does look interesting, although, like many here, I've been using Irfanview for quite a while. I was very hopeful when I saw it converted many different format as I've been looking for something to easily convert EPS and AI files to something more easily used. No luck this time, again .

Thanks for all the reviews, folks. Some times I download, some times I don't. But, thanks, GAOD, for giving me the choice.

To #38: I do have Photoshop CS, but it takes longer to opening it up, doing a save as and then closing out of it. This program does it quickly in a right click menu.

Imagine this for a minute....

Your sitting there going through a bunch of images and realize one of them is in jpg format and you need it in gif format. Sure, your "great" suggestion would be to open image in Photoshop, save for web, choose properties, hit ok, close out of image, close out of photoshop.

I don't know, but for me, it seems easier farting around with this program by right clicking the image I am looking at and choose GIF. Wait 3 seconds and poof, gif produced in less time than it would have taken to do even a single step in Photoshop, let alone even opening the program.

Oh yea, and for fun, I did a little "farting around" with some math while I was at it. :)

Photoshop ($450.00+) < ImageBadger ($0.00)

Oh great, another day when some supposed “expert” posts a completely disrespectful comment, and claims that others not in his/her same intellectual hierarchy are “clueless morons”.

Fubar, while I’m certain that your computer abilities are competent, your people skills are lacking. Your posting has some great information, that will benefit quite a few who visit this area and perhaps if you used your energy to educate rather than disrespect, you’d find that you feel better – and there wouldn’t be postings such as mine. I realize that it may be difficult to remember, but everyone has to learn to crawl before they walk.

Having stated that, I appreciate the information posted concerning your advice for reading the help file (carefully).

#35 Simply Free:

Don't be afraid. Many programs add lots of registry entries and files to the System directory. We complainers are just tired of having our computers bloated with unnecessary "stuff". Any program that converts files from one format to another needs extra software to handle both the formats. Therefore, if it offers lots of conversions, it will use lots of files. It also has to add lots of registry entries to integrate those files into the system properly. Ideally, you would already have those "extra" files, but you probably won't (based on what others have said here).

You should use something like "Sandboxie" to install all programs, anyway, so you can just delete all the changes at once after you decide you don't want the program. If you do want to keep it, just re-install it. But don't forget about the GAOTD deadline if you want the free, registered version!

This sounds good but I've used Irfanview for years and it is great. Slideshows, batch processing, screen capture, image conversion or resizing -- you name it, Irfanview does it. I use the Gimp to create new work, like the cover of a book, but I use Irfanview for everything else.

Thanks anyway.

As always, for shits and giggles I tried to install on an older comp with Windows ME and it works just fine.

I think I will hold on for this for the small, simple tasks that make me cringe having to wait the 274 years it takes for The Gimp to open and load. I can convert, emboss and resize a pic in the time it used to take me to open Gimp.

This program has stayed on my computer since the last download and I love it. The right click menu is fantastic as I am constantly working in different formats. Maybe I'm missing it, but it would be nice if it also included .pdf support. My only complaint, if you can call it that would be the interface. I would much prefer a standard GUI with options to change it if I wanted "roundy" cartoon style. :)

Thanks GOTD and Kristanix for the nice piece of software.

If you just want to resize pictures, VSO Image Resizer, is easy to use, and is free. I use it all the time to resize my pictures for ebay. I just resized 50 pictures, and it only took 11 seconds. This is all done through windows explorer. What I like is you can save the resize dimensions as your default. Plus you can have it make copies so you still have your original sized pictures. Here is the link to the download page. http://www.vso-software.fr/products/image_resizer/

I downloaded this because it said it could convert formats from psp [PaintShop Pro] to psd [Photoshop]. I use Photoshop, but have a gazllion PaintShop Pro graphics. It is time-consuming to have to open PSP to convert files to the Photoshop format, so I thought this would be a quick and easy way to convert a bunch at a time. I tried it on about 30 psp graphics. Unfortunately, it was only able to convert seven of them...and lost the transparencies in the process [it added white backgrounds where the backgrounds were transparent]. It gave me error reports on the rest. Frankly, that percentage, plus losing the transparencies, is not enough to make this program worthwhile for me.

Thank you GAOTD. I am a crafts-type person and have been looking for a program that is very quick and easy to learn (although I suppose "some" would call it childish). Tis the season...flu season so I haven't been able to "play" with the program but at first glance it has a resize, sketch, drawing, and mosaic filter which looks very interesting. I also appreciate the mention of the other software out there especially the free programs as I don't have the means to purchase a professional program such as Paint Shop Pro right now.

I did try to resize a picture I had to 8 x 10 but as I don't know much about pixel settings, I found this part of the function confusing. If anyone can let me know how/where, etc., info to resize for common picture sizes by pixels would they be kind enough to let me know?

As for #9 - Fubar (maybe the name says it all, I don't know). Your first paragraph shows you must have little respect for yourself as you show others very little; however, the rest of your comments were worth reading. Please remember other people have lives and some just don't have the time to play all day with computers and some people are just learning...don't discourage that because you had to start out once too!

$50 - not worth it. I also use Irfanview and there are other alternatives (I just heard of XnView which I haven't looked at yet but apparently is also free and it claims can work with over 400 file formats; Compare with 140 + for this one). Not much incentive to get attached to a program that a person would have to buy later if their system went kaplooie. I've heard there is a minimal version of XnView that is less than 3 MB with 0 hooks into the registry for those that would be concerned about that. Again, I have no experience with XnView, just passing on what I read elsewhere this morning.

Hello all! Today's 15-Minute Review is up! Check it out!

http://www.bladedthoth.com/reviews/15mrs/imagebadger-deluxe-v4-5/

This is the previous review of the title because there hasn’t been significant changes to the title that would be reflected in an updated review. The application has gone through only minor changes and bugfixes since version 4.5 and as tested this morning, there is no notable changes. The changelog can be found through the link below:

This program added 1300 keyloggers to my registry! And all this program is used for is making pictures that are probably just used in screen savers! We dont need another screensaver like this! Its not even free unless I activate it. It said trial version until I ran the activate program! I'm not going to read the readme file because I dont like to read. Badger is a bad word in my language. And I dont like being called one.

I h]just checked out BladedThoth Review of a previous version (http://www.bladedthoth.com/reviews/15mrs/imagebadger-deluxe-v4-5/). It did not convince me to download todays Deal of the day. I have four other programs to edit image files. The one I use for just about everything is Paint Shop Pro. It is just easy to you and has so many filters and tools that I don't need anything else. Plus I can add tools and filters that someone has taken the time to create.

I suppose it's worth downloading for free, but there's no way I'd ever pay fifty bucks for this when IrfanView is free all the time. And if you want right-click resizing, Microsoft makes a free Image Resizer XP PowerTool which does exactly that. On the plus side, I did get a good laugh from the idea that anybody would buy this program when there are so many less expensive or even free alternatives.
