I agree with #21. Are most of the people who monitor this site 12 year olds??? Why do so many make such a big deal about being the first to comment???

Not impressed - it has a lot of possibilities, but it's not reliable and the finished product isn't as good as other free offerings. It will be worthwhile if they get the bugs worked out.

Tried several times to install and activate, and never could get online availability confirmation. Thus, no software...

How to use the activation key is non-intuitive on this download. I've taken about 10 titles since I found this and the parallel site for games and never had this problem. I finally found it after searching their website in vain. After installing you have to click the shortcut. Just in case someone else had the same trouble.

Thanks to those who mention alternatives. I wasn't familiar enough with photobucket when I went there to see what they could do.

Regarding the first to post, it's okay if they post something other than "I'm first." This is supposed to be about the software, not the visitors!

This app is useful with digital camera, some camera give the output files in bitmap format, so they waste much memory to store. And this app is useful for who want to make some slide show movie but the sources were in other format than .jpg ( should convert all to one format to reduce the app runtime ). Someone found this app ( or this kind ) was useless, only because they haven't need to work with large number of pictures but the main app don't accept the current format yet. ( You cant convert per one by "Paint" or other shareware, almost them allow converting one per times ) thnx anyway to GOTD and extralabs for giving it free today. :|

TO Give away of the day,

You have started a great website but the reason most pass or turn to other freeware is because you have YET to bring out the big Guns or the Heavy Hitters... I like the fact that you do not try to censorship
the user comments and try to offer Shareware that has been turned into
freeware by your site. Great concept and great ideal!!!
Hit us hard, with the best and useable software you can get your hands
on and this WILL become one of the most Popular and talked about Web-sites such as Myspace or Youtube. We are waiting and thank you in advance for all.

A++ Very nice little program. Easy to use and simple to follow! Too many photo programs 'do it all' but are complex unless you use them daily which I do not.

The problem with Irfanview is that, for me, it does too much. I like this program because it does ONE function (making thumbnails!) very neatly and efficiently. I don't like Irfanview, personally.

Also, I like using freeware programs, but I don't understand the comments "Use this other program, it's free!!!"... because this is free too, if you get it today. ;p

Hey all!

I've started a website and decided to start a mini-review of each of the Giveaways. Calling it the 15-Minute Reviews, or 15MRs, is aimed to give an initial feel about the app posted on GotD. While I won't be doing this daily quite yet and the site is not quite complete, I have posted the first 15MR there today.

http://www.bladedthoth.com/news/2007/01/28/15mr-image-assistant/#extended

The RSS feeds aren't quite complete yet but will be in the near future.

thumbs up. this program is easy to use once one realizes how to get the images into it in the first place which is easy if you watch the tutorial instead of trying to do it intuitively.

i don't have the other free programs mentioned, i haven't used this a bunch, i've just trial ran it, but i'm very very pleased with the testing that i've done in it. it is easy to get watermarks...one could type anything in there, works in a flash.

It's incredible how many people out there seem to be computer literate, but can't write an English sentence, or even spell simple words. Some of you appear to have skipped school and gone right to technology. The only management position you'll ever attain is administrator of your own computer. Well, back to the real world.

@44 quote from their site, ''PhotoFiltre is free for a private or educational use''.

Back to the topic, seems o.k., did crash when I saved a picture, I am sure I can sort that out myself by checking for errors and it's probably my files being a pain.

I give this app a 7/10.

It's free today and all day and night till 7:59:59 g.m.t. Then the lamers suddenly comment on the next big give away they have yet to download or even try. Threpney bits people like that!

This looks good. It has a lot of options that have already been mentioned. The only thing that turns me off is how professional can the makers of this software be when they typo the word 'position' in the watermark feature! (posion)

:P

# 41 You are right, Photofiltre is better!
# 44 My copy has always been free... The most recent version is 6.2.7
And once again why would anyone use software that limit you to one version and force you to buy a upgrade when there are so many free version with free upgrades! For Example : Many people have purchased the popular compression tool..... (Drum Roll Please)
WINZIP when there are equal or better programs such as IZARC with free upgrades... B4 you purchase any software go to some good sites such as.... filehippo.com or freeware-guide.com and look for and try out software b4 settling on the first thing that comes along

I have seen about 2 programs on this site worth KEEPing since they started up... I do like the site but the people who use this site are LAZY and very dumb when it comes to COMPUTERS, FREEWARE, AND SHAREWARE! Whenever you activate a program from this site you must be connected to the internet and then close the program after the website
confirms it has been activated! When the program re-opens there will be no trial period. Many are asking the same questions over and over...??? Hope this helps? Mabe not?

This may be my second comment. I apologize, but my first did not post. I seem to have difficulty logging in.

I like this program for what it does (batch resizing, batch renaming and watermarking) and for its simplicity of use. I immediately went to the program website and viewed the tutorials which were a great help.

I use several other photo/image programs, some free, including Irfanview (which I love) but some programs are best for a certain fuction. Image Assistant does the above named functions very well, and I don't happen to have another program that does them (Irfanview will batch convert and rename, but I don't see that it will batch resize or watermark).

So my vote is a strong positive for this one. And it's free!

Re: activating, with this one you run install, and at the very beginning of the process a pop-up box will inform you of the registration code to use. Then you register the program using that (GOTD) registration code.

Cheers,
Laurie

Hi--I've just installed Image Assistant and viewed the tutorials on Extralabs' site. So far I'm really pleased. Yes, there are lots of photo editing programs, some free, but I really like what this one does. It will batch resize (great for emailing photos or uploading to your website), and add watermarks (again in batch). Simple. I prefer simple when I'm trying to get work done. I use a number of programs, but there are always ones that are best for a certain purpose. (And I have Irfanview and love it).

Regarding activation: In this one, once you run install, a pop-up box informs you of the registration code to use for the GOTD version. You must register using this number.

Nice little program, thanks. One slight hiccup when installing - spotted the litle activation code window half hidden behind another window during the install but neglected to copy and paste before closing it! Still, I simply took a few moments to uninstall the software again and repeated the downloaded process. Hey Presto! Another activation code appeared (though it was tucked away behind another window again) ... Copied the code into the relevant spot and now all's well with the world!

Hey 'First to comment' folks:

Do you know how silly you look when you proclaim your 'first' status and you're really 5th on the list? HAAA! Thanks for the laughs!

To all the folks who have given real feedback:
Thanks! You've helped me make my decision on this product. It looked like a similar program I already have, so I'll leave my download to someone who needs it.

Thanks GOTD for all your hard work! I love this site!

Firstly, hats off to GotD for the great software and service that you provide. I check back here every day and recommend you to my friends.

My reason for writing ... I also recommend Irfanview for this kind of thing -- backwards compatible with older computers with fewer resources, as well as useful on more powerful machines.

I'm not just "me-too"-ing here ... I didn't notice if anyone had posted the URL for IrfanView, so here it is:

http://www.irfanview.com/

The main download is just over 1MB, so quite small, it's available in TWENTY ONE different languages, and there are additional plugins available to make it even more powerful.

And no, I have nothing to do with IrfanView itself, in case you were wondering!

G'night all!

I like your site. It is nice to be able to get your hands on some software without paying for it, but if you are giving away a 15 day trial, I am a little puzzled why you claim that others pay $25 for it. Or did I do something wrong during the activation?
