iFunia Video Converter is designed as an all-in-one video converter for Windows with ready-made presets for converting to popular video/audio formats and support changing video formats for most portable players like iPhone, iPad, iPod, Apple TV etc. The application also includes simple video-editing features such as video cropping, trimming, and merging multiple video clips.
iFunia DVD Ripper is an all-in-one DVD ripping utility that helps Windows users convert movies on DVD (even protected ones) to formats that are compatible with all major portable media devices. You can even convert your DVD movies to the newest HD formats and receive the full control over settings for audio channel, bitsrate, trimming, cropping, brightness, contrast, and more.
I'm not sure how I feel about this Giveaway. I see so many video convertors out there and the only advice I can give is that if you have one that you are happy with and it's not giving you any problems , you should stay with it unless you are compelled that a stand along program that only converts one format is worth keeping. The giveaways previously offered here (EG Wonderfox , WinX , etc were more handy and reliable) The video convertor market is too generic to include only a program that converts one type of program.
Please prove me wrong why single conversion tools are all mighty.

Thanks GAOTD. I goofed around yesterday about a "Pet Insect Eye Corrector" but I am very thankful for what you do here all year 'round. Viewing your offerings are an integral part of my "good morning to the world" routine, and you guys are so very dear to me for giving away wonderful things and only asking for my opinion in return. Happy Holidays, silly screensavers and all!!! : D

The difference between MKV and MP4 is merely the wrapper (and the ability to add subtitles, chapters, etc.). But for the process of decoding the actual video, the codec language is the same. I learned how to re-wrap files VERY QUICKLY by COPYING the video and audio data with a freeware program called XMedia Recode. It basically changes the format without converting. Most programs, like this GAOTD, are not capable of copying data between formats. This is a key feature, because MP4 is compatible with more devices, for example, my Xbox 360. The only time it takes more than a few minutes to change from MKV to MP4 is when the audio must be converted from multi-channel to stereo, since my Xbox360 only reads files with 2-channel audio. That still takes much less time than converting the whole file. I wanted to mention this, because most people don't realize it's possible to skip the conversion process entirely from MKV to MP4, by simply re-wrapping the content and changing the file format. So, if that's your goal, consider the options before wasting your time converting a bunch of videos with today's offer.

Yeah, love how you added the extra perks in parentheses to say that it was merely the wrapper. I like the added ability of chapters, a lot. However, it would be nice to change the format in the way mentioned. I'll have to give it a try at some point.

If you need converters for more than MKV, just check back daily. Many offers throughout the year here. And while I am at it, happy Thanksgiving to all and special thanks to GAOTD for all the free stuff all year long. Ya, it's not all the greatest, but some are quality programs that are great to have, especially for free. And thank you to Karl, XPman, Giovanni, etc and the entire community for taking the time to test and review all these programs for us. All the extra information about other programs, things to try, etc are great! It's the community that makes the website, so thanks to u all!

It is working on video conversion or edit jobs. but certainly not very well or very fast, and takes large PC resource. checked the output video quality...lost some quality. As a commercial version,it's really NOT recommended. Even worse than WinX Video Converter free version.

Simple installation and registration, opens to a clean interface.
Tested importing videos other than the default type, but does not seem to be ale to handle particularly well making it rather limited converter.
Choosing the output format is typical of most converters today, no rhyme or reason in the order of the selection meaning you have to hunt through if you want a specific type.
Editing contrast and brightness are available plus another few such as threshold and video. Watermarks can be added as image or text with variable transparency levels, also allows cropping.
On test it was possible to pause and then play the partially converted video, useful to see if the conversion is going as planned.
Would rather use my free converter because of its versatility and would only use the above for some of the editing functions.

Installed and registered without problems on a Win 8.1.3 Pro 64 bit system.
A (Chinese?) company without name and address. The company goals taken from a preset as APPLE fans. And a good sentence:
, iFunia software that do not charge you for features you don't need.
Is that, that this software is free of charge today?
Good is that the used software parts are mentioned:
iFunia products include software developed by the FFmpeg Project.(http://ffmpeg.mplayerhq.hu/ ).
iFunia products include software developed by the XviD encoder ( http://www.xvid.org/ ).
iFunia products include software developed by x264 encoder (http://www.videolan.org ). Often missing.
The software itself is from 2011, a blog shows some activities, the last entry is from admin On September 28, 2014
A small only to full screen resizable window opens. You have no settings or options to select. I have seen this interface several times under different names. Are they all clone from one Grandfather? And who IS the Grandfather?
You add your Matroska video(MKV), you cannot add anything else, you can crop or watermark the new video, add some effects from 3d Grid over HalfTone to Solarization (who uses this???). The before/after effects or shown side by side, so you can control easily the correct settings.
In my test it does, what it claims. If you ever wanted to have a single Matrioska converter, which works with three years old codecs, than you can take and install this.
I prefer a converter with the latest codecs which converts besides MKV also other video formats.
Uninstalled via reboot. Have a nice sunday!

I forgot...
I have made my test with the "official" Matrioska test files. You can download these from :
http://www.matroska.org/downloads/test_w1.html
Download these anyway, even if you don't want to test anything. They are simply very good made short video samples.

Karl,
ffmpeg is (free) GPL licenced software...I wonder if these software developers of "iFunia MKV Converter" have complied to all the requirements under the GPL licence!?!

I tried this app too. Works well, no crash, run fast, and convert fast. I really can't understand why you guys expect so much from a freebie! It's just a MKV Converter!
