Same as above. Selected setup to install. Received message saying it had been activated but it had not installed.

For who can't activate to pro version, try to install it as admin, for me worked, and don't upgrade if asked after installation.
Hope will work.

I can not install.
When I am launching setup.exe then the file check the ability for installation and open the "successfully activated" window. The right installation won't start.

When I enter the provided registration key in order to activate the Pro version I continuously receive a 'Connection to server failed' error message. I've tried repeatedly yesterday and today and the same error message appears. Anyone have any idea how to overcome this persistent issue?

Nice application, works fast and reliably.
I have bad results converting Greek language pdf files.

Addendum to my previous comment: I also uninstalled and reinstalled it and same thing. The settings dialog shows the wrong version as well (when run as standard user). Uninstalling did not remove the registration as it still showed as already registered after reinstallation- perhaps that's why uninstalling and reinstalling didn't fix the erroneous version number.

Installed over previous version from last year(?) and already shows registered. Interesting issue- if I run it as administrator by right-clicking the icon and choosing that option it correctly shows as version 2.6.9 when loading. However, when I click the same icon to just run it as standard user, the startup dialog shows 2.1.6.

I've tried installing twice to no avail. I keep getting an error: Problem Event Name: BEX
Application Name: setup.exe_Icecream PDF Converter
Application Version: 0.0.0.0
Application Timestamp: 57051f88
Fault Module Name: StackHash_4c0d

I'd really love to get this as I have the free 2.49 version

I couldn't get the installer to work. It only would install Software Informer. Is there somewhere it secretly installed Icecream PDF Converter Pro because I searched for it and didn't find it.

Very happy that this product is back up. I used it for a while, but had to reset my PC and never got it back.
It works great!

Not happy!

After registration (serial # registered), with application now showing 'Pro', conversions are still getting overlaid with big 'PDF Converter Trial' markings (Doc). Am I missing something?

OK, my fault.

Must not have reopened PDF Converter after registration.

Still, conversion seems to ignore fonts sizes, types, etc.
Not the prettiest conversion.

I got this program the last time it was offered and I love it. It is just a simple program but it does what is needed. I work with MS Word all the time and since PDF formats seem to be all the rage I needed a program that would change PDF to DOC. This program works great and now that they are offering an upgrade I am going to get it also. I have Win 10, but still use Word 2003.

I have version 2-49 which has OCR.
Will skip this version 2-69.
Sometimes better to stick with a version that works well and that meets you needs.
Newer version is not always better.

A general comment about PDF to Word converters: they are a subset of OCR converters in general. I've been using OCR since the late 90's, and initially thought that it should be a fairly simple thing for software to accurately convert from image files to editable text, but it is really a fairly difficult undertaking. There have been OCR programs that have had 99% conversion accuracy for at least fifteen years, but that 1% still yields a lot of errors. As to PDF converters specifically, even Adobe Acrobat has problems with some PDF conversions to Word, but it has a high degree of accuracy. Sometimes you can find a non-current version of Acrobat for sale. Nuance products are highly accurate, especially with tables. Finereader and Readiris are also pretty good.

I do not work for any of these companies, and am not making excuses for any conversion errors users have experienced. However, since I was surprised that accurate conversion was a difficult task, I thought some of you might also not be aware of that fact.

I downloaded the program from giveaway.com, unzipped it and clicked on the .exe to install it. There was a pop up window for some kind of update program that I didn't want so I bypassed it. The window that remained already had the serial number in it and the notice at the top said the program was register and the only thing left that was clickable was the close button.
Nothing was installed, so I can't tell you how and if the program actually works!

Add OCR capability because some PDF documents are merely images of the original. I need to search a document for keywords and names. Thank you.

Dae Powell,

ABBYY PDF Converter is pretty much the goto for this IMO.

And not expensive. I bought it on eBay for 10.

I have a PDF from the internet:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/4jggg5ybtg52d12/mars03rovers.pdf
Converted to DOCX:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/cb5gk8l8eek379g/mars03rovers_1-8.docx
The other examples are in Dutch, but it will let see something good and something bad.
I took a screen-dump of a site, saved as PNG, converted to PDF:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/7ms13rxsri28nf7/Rekenen.pdf
And the result after OCR:

Another went totally wrong. A picture, converted to PDF:

And result:
DOC: https://www.dropbox.com/s/aaz314emjy76dgm/PostNL.doc

Ootje, You just can't convert something over and over without problems. If someone wants to convert a Word Document into a PDF File or the other way, why not try this? No program that converts PDF works well. They all mix up stuff.

Ootje, I also went ahead and did the update and it stayed activated from the older version that was offered here some time ago. I didn't even need to enter this new activation code.

I can find no option to specify output document size when going to PDF. The forced size is a strange 8.26 x 11.69 size. If I desire to print the result, it must be reduced to letter size as the output document's margins are also quite small, so printing at 100% risks overflowing the printer's edge capability. Also I sometimes want legal size, and there is no option for anything else. I can use a pdf viewer to save in a standard size, like letter size, but the content is reduced in size slightly or else accept very small top/bottom margins. Give us output size and/or margin capabilities ! (note that my source is html files and my only complaint is the resulting document size and margins).

I paid for 2.68, even though I could do everyting I needed with the free version, and 2.69 is the result of an issue I had with it. I have thousands of files of sheet music in PDF format. I wanted to rip the covers as jpegs for use in a digital photo frame. The issue I had with 2.68 was that the program could ake over a half hour to load the files with a second generation i7. The progress bar lets the user know something is happening. The program saved me so much manual labor that I was happy to buy the Pro version as a thank you.

The negatives:
** You can't ask the program to rip only a speciic page for a batch of files. This was a trivilal annoyance for my sheet music project because when it rips an entire document it names the pages xxx_1.jpg, xxx_2.jpg, etc., so it's just a matter of saving the _1.jpg files. Howeer, I have another application that requires only the last pages, which I don't have an easy way to do.
** I don't like their licensing policy, which I admit is their right. There's a limit to the number of installs. At home alone, I've got 3 machines networked peer-to-peer that only I use. The good thing for me about this GOTD offering is thta I can now install the Pro version on all of my machines.

I have version 2.49, and it works...well, just okay. My major interest is to use "PDF to..." (as "...to PDF" can mostly be done by a free PDF printer driver); however, the PDF to MS Word format (I mostly do this) output doesn't looks quite perfect. For a non-scanned PDF, the output quality is acceptable, but for a scanned PDF, the output is disappointing as it even loses the table format. An improvement in the OCR quality seems to be required.

Tried few word files the conversion was inaccurate and the page format was wrong. Not to mention that tables conversion was totally disfigured
