Downloaded and ran flawlessly on my Lenovo W-7 64bit desktop. Found many images I had deleted from 2009 vacation and recovered them to HDD w/o difficuty. This is a keeper for me.

Installed and ran fine on windows 10 64bit. Am very happy with this program. Ran a scan on several of my camera cards and was able to retrieve photos from last summer that I thought were lost for good. This program was just what I needed. Thanks GAOTD.

Installed on thumb drive and registered with no problem. Windows 10 64 Bit.
Did test run with spare thumb drive that was emptied and it found everything. No problem drive to test on.

With all these negative comments, how can this offering have a 70% thumbs up rating? Since the site look changed, I notice that almost every offering is rated highly positive, whereas the old site had a LOT of mostly thumbs down ratings. I'm not sure I trust the rating percentages any longer.

Installed and opens on Win 10 64 bit, but crashes after scanning a drive. Pretty useless until they get this significant bug fixed.

I have uninstalled a previous version on my Windows 7 Pro x64 system. The previous version was iCare Data Recovery Standard 5.4 on another giveaway.

This newer version installs but will not run. No error messages nothing.

I have rebooted multiple times, checked all I can. Even the full Trial version from their web site will install but will not run.

Giving up.

If it doesn't work for you and you get the following in the Event Log :
"Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files (x86)\iCare Data Recovery Pro\iCDRUI.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.MFC,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50727.762" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis."

.... then do what I did .... I had to install “Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable” to solve the “Event ID = 33” listed in the Windows EventLog. The Visual C++ 2008, 2010,and 2013 were already installed. Very odd that a new program like iCare would require a Visual C++ 2005 install in order to ‘open’ when it’s desktop icon is clicked on.

Download went well on my W7 64 bit.

Lately I seem to be having a slight problem with installs from GAOTD. Mostly the only way I can get the software to install is by turning AVG off for 10 mins. Then the install works fine. this was no exception.

I just ran ICare Data Recovery on an 8gb SD card (Via a cheapo USB reader) which I wiped yesterday and it found all 50 photos plus 2 Mov files.
Photos were all useable but the two Mov files were NOT recognised by four different AVI players. (That also happened with File Undelete360 and Wise Data recovery)

On DEEP scan it 'Found' evidence of 1845 previous files but none were readable. (They would most likely have been large JPG's which were written over as this is my main camera SD card.)

On DOCS or WORD files it may be fine but I haven't tried that.

Main point is that it DOES work on my Windows 7 64bit system if that helps.

Was just starting to think I should try this but was hesitating when I read your response. The install had been bombing out seconds after running it, so I turned off AVG and voila - install and registration went through without a second thought. I too am using Win7 x64; can't say whether this applies only to AVG, but perhaps some people who are having probs with other 64 bit OS and also have AVG might want to try this.

Downloaded 2 times, reinstalled 5 times, all in vain; app won't launch.
i tried iCDRUI.exe from install folder and i got error message:
"App has failed to start because app configuration is incorrect. Reinstall may fix this problem."
I run 32-bit WinXP Pro???

Thanks to Gary C. and Ootje, who made a remark about installing Visual C++ 2005 SP1, the GOTD-program work fine on the same WinXP.

According to iCare it should work with Windows 2000/ XP/ Vista/ 7/ 8/ 10 - Don't know about 2000, XP, Vista, 7 or 8 but it won't work with Windows 10 is this a case of faulty software or iCare misleading potential customers. Either way not a good start. But since there are plenty of other similar programs that will do pretty much the same job ... Do iCare ... NAH!

Brian Tomlinson
Unlike earlier posts I had no problems opening (Windows 10).
In the last few days I have tried 10 other so called "Free Recovery" programs to restore lost SDHC card photos, including Recuva.
Todays GOTD worked as well as the best and more importantly for a novice like me it completed the process by not only identifying the lost images but also restoring them onto my computer ( none of the others did this for free - some did not find the lost files and those that did needed the paid for add on to restore them. Recuva (free) found the lost files but I couldn't get it to restore the images on my computer - probably my fault, not understanding).
So - highly recommended for beginners with missing data. Thanks GOTD!

Same problem. This program will not open under Windows 10. Even after a restart. Also no new process arises in the task manager.

Confirmed not working on Windows 10 x64. Attempting to run with XP, Vista, or 7 compatibility applied to the shortcut made no difference. Event log shows:

Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files (x86)\iCare Data Recovery Pro\iCDRUI.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.MFC,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50727.762" could not be found. The downloaded file wouldn't run. When I ran the file it connected and told me it was activated, but did not actually run the set up. So I went to their website and downloaded it there, but when I tried to put in the code, it wouldn't accept it.
Apparently this is NOT the same as their Pro version, even though the name and number are the same.
Disappointed as I would like to have this program on hand for when it is needed.

Haven't tried it out but from everyone's comments it sounds like a keeper. Thanks GAOTD and iCARE

Strange; in WinXP virtual and Win10-64 the Setup went fine:

The program did not start at all.

Also the installation of the trial did not work.

It installed fine with no problems but it does not open. The only thing it does when you try to open it (even as administrator) is send the message box asking me if I want this program to make changes to your computer and you say yes. Nothing happens after that. I checked the task manager and there is nothing there indicating that the program is running.

I have windows 7 and I do have the system requirements.

Installed and registered without any fuss, opens up to a clean interface.
Selected the deep scan just to have a look at the interface; greeted by a very nice clean easy to read page.

Chose a flash drive, stopped partway through just to see what happened, and this allowed me to easily navigate back to the drive choice.
The program worked really well from the point of view of user experience, easy to navigate very logical in its processes.

I do everything I can to make the possibility of recovery available.
A set page file size which is defragmented this dramatically reduces fragmentation and regular defragmentation of the drive.
Yet whatever the cost of the software I tested the recovery of large files has never been possible.

This is probably a lot to do the amount of available free space on the drive; certainly in my experience a drive that is 80% full offers little hope.

Obviously there is insufficient time for me to do a full test, a thorough scan is always slow but from the interface and usability it is certainly worth a download.
