Easy installation and registration on my Win7 Pro x64. All I did was follow the directions in the ReadMe file. This looks like fun, and I might be able to have good use for it, since I like to write simple songs for children. Thank you, GAOTD and BelaDaddy!

I am a poet and would like to be able to make my poems into songs, but I do not know how to create music or read notes. Would this program be able to help? I am not sure from reading the comments. If not, is there any software that will do what I am asking for?

No comment on this software really, except that the sample in the video sounds horrible tonally and the melody. Might be a good program, might still be in development?

Take a look at Songtrix's software (http://www.chordwizard.com/songtrix.aspx). They have Chordwizard and Songtrix programs, both of which are very good. I have found it very helpful, and usable. But their default instrument is also that awful electronic - sounding saxiphone (?), though like this program you can change the default instrument.

Bela, I installed it on Vista and it seems fine but I won't have time to run it until later. One thing -- it looks like in order to fit the whole thing on my desktop I will have to change my screen resolution. It would make it easier if you could tell me what the resolution should be. Thanks

Bela (if you are the owner of today's offer),

Small item, not a complaint: You might want to get the GOTD staff to update the "Homepage" link to your product (above, in the blue info box). As currently set up, it goes to the ""About" section of that page for another title, "IdolSoundLab".

On the other hand, by scrolling upwards to the top of that page to read about HitFactor, it does introduce us to many of your other music and audio software titles, so perhaps that was intentional on your part!

When was this software developed. I checked on VIREG32.EXE in the Windows directory and it stated Sept, 1997. If we were to purchase, I would expect no updates from them.

Maybe you all can hear the narrative over the repeating music in the demo video posted on this page, but I sure couldn't. How about a demo doing something with NO music and then play the music to show what changes happened and then STOP the music for the next step.

Seems rather a silly way to market a product to me.

    Lollyman,

    >Where is this "No" you speak of??
If is in a dialog that shows up when the program is started, however a couple more precede it.

One note, the while the program is unregistered, it has to be restarted every 10 minutes.

When the program starts, it displays a dialog stating "This is the unregistered reminder. It will not appear after registration. If you find this software useful, then please register the program." This dialog has a "Ok" button.

Right after clicking on the OK button, you receive a new dialog. This is the one that has the "No" you ask about. It states:
"Do you want to visit the How to Register site?" It has two buttons: "Yes" and "No"

Click on No. You will be prompted to select the Audio Properties, then it asks if you wish to load the "SimpleDemo" project. By this time, mine wanted to restart, and I presume it was due to 10 minutes having lapsed. After restart, another non-registered reminder shows up, then the Yes and No dialog again. This time, I was able to get to the Help About screen. It immediately displays a prompt to enter the unlock code.

Not being a musician I can create a better melody by hitting random keys on the keyboard, this program does only one thing right - only generates notes that belong to a particular key, so it's a better composer/musician than me.

From somewhere with comment, what you say is actually a point against it. Paul Simon once remarked that the best pop songs use all 12 tones at least one time. Accidentals are a part of good music.

With a clean screen you can color something yellow and then hit a key -> yellow become green.
Also for another track etc. Green notes can be deleted and other place can be made yellow again and a new tone can be assigned:
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10366431/_GOTD/HitFactor430_20170127/ZelfNotenPlaatsen.png
By doing this to the other track something can be "composed".
    A few examples, own risk

    and
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10366431/_GOTD/HitFactor430_20170127/Test2.wav
Some tracks I did change the Root-note and key, from single to triple? and lowered the volume of one track:

ew, Likewise, tried to compose a few melodies, the results were, to say the least were shockingly poor and all sounded pretty much the came. GUI is horrible, looks very amateurish without too much thought ... I'll stick to Magix Music Maker a far superior piece of software. How the deleloper thinks this is worth $29 is beyond me. Not worth the disk space.

    Pete,

I checked it out on an XP machine too. I found it interesting that the install looks like those typical from Windows 95 era, but states "This program is not constructed for this Windows version, but may work despite of that. Do you want to continue?" The install copyright statement is from 2007-2017, which is right after Vista was released (November 2006). The program lists the required OS as starting with Windows 7. In 2007, there was no Windows 7, but there were a lot of XP users.

In the HitFactorQuickStart.pdf file placed in the installed to folder, on page 6 there is a reference to how to set up the Midi Out device. It has an explanation and then has: (Windows XP or lower).

I imagine it has always worked on XP. Due to the number of XP users still remaining, there would be no good reason to exclude them.

One major fault with this GOTD instalation.
Even when I set where to install it, it still goes to C:\programs files.
I tried 2 times and I can't get it install where I want.

    So far it's working OK.

    consuella, well..
Do all this under your own risk, if you don't know how to work with regedit , do nothing or you mess up your system.
    1) you must run it first and register it.
    2) locate the installation in C:\programs files.
    3) cut that folder and paste it where you want.
    4) in rejedit search for HitFactor, there edit the path to reflect your new location.
    5) in the the HitFactor folder should be Vinstall.log file . open it in good txt editor (like NP++)and correct all paths to reflect your new location and save.
    6) Go to the software homepage and DL additional ~300MB sounds.
    7) Do all this under your own risk, if you don't know how to work with regedit , do nothing or you mess up.
    good luck

    consuella,

I had only one reference in the Registry that was incorrect, but I did not start the program until moving it to where I wanted to be first.

Instead of the default C:\Programs Files folder, in the install setup I changed the install to location to "G:\Programs" but when the install started, I could see that it was installing to the C:\Program Files folder. When it completed, I checked both locations. The install did create a G:\Programs\BelaDaddy Software\HitFactor430 folder, but all that was in it was a file named Vinstall.log. Everything else was placed into the C:\Program Files\BelaDaddy Software\HitFactor430 folder. The Vinstall.log file contains references to the C: drive only.

Before starting the program for the first time, I moved all of the files to the G: drive, then started it. I searched in the Registry, and did find the G: drive folder listed in all locations except for one location that contained a reference to the C: drive. It was in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\HitFactor 4.3.0. It contained a reference to the HitFactor.ico but had the C:\Program Files location as its location. I changed it to the G: drive location, and all has worked well since. I suspect that the registry gets filled with the G: drive location when the program starts for the first time, otherwise, the Install program is setting the Registry correct (G: drive) but placing the files on the C: drive.

There are quite a few places in the Registry that reference the "installed to" location, so if you have already started the program but do not want to have it in that location, it might be easier to use an uninstaller that will Uninstall and clean up the Registry. Then reinstall but move it before executing for the first time. That way, you have only one Registry entry to deal with.
