Heimdal PRO is a cyber threat protection suite that includes 3 layers of protection against ransomware, financial Trojans, data-stealing malware and other threats that antivirus can't detect.

The difference between Heimdal PRO and antivirus:
Reactive antivirus looks for files and actions, whereas Heimdal looks at traffic. Heimdal works proactively to prevent cyber criminals from infecting your system, taking data from your PC and moving it out of your network.

Heimdal PRO is powered by 3 engines that ensure:

  • real-time traffic scanning – protection against Zero Hour exploits, dangerous web locations, malicious content from legitimate websites and cybercriminal attacks.
  • detection and blocking of advanced malware attacks – blocks confidential data leakage and data exfiltration to cybercriminal-controlled servers.
  • automatic and silent patching – keeps your security-critical software up-to- date, blocking over 85% of attacks that target software apps.

Get Heimdal Pro with 70% discount!

Please note: The software includes a 6-months license and comes with free technical support and updates. The download archive doesn't include the installer, please refer to the readme file for the Giveaway process!

Hi, can I ask why the program changes my dns setting? Heimdal pro changes my dns to 127.7.5 or something like that.

I already had Heimdal Pro installed with 2 months left on a previous giveaway.
I was able to simply paste today's license and get an additional 6 (8-2) months.

it is very easy to install: reading readme, copy and paste the link address, giving an email address, unchecking information, getting the license code on the next page, starting the download and following the instructions (email, pasting the code...)

It will tell me about updating some programs. Okay, whether it will be good , I will see later. I will give it a try. Thumbs up

Reading the comments is like banging my head on a desk. I have thought for a long time that the vast majority of problems that turn up there could be easily resolved if something like this (edited to be more user-friendly) was posted prominently at the top of every giveaway page:

Installation or registration problems? Before asking for help or giving up, try these steps:
1) Read the instructions at the top of the giveaway page. Often that will give you an idea what to expect from the installation and registration process.
2) Carefully read the readme.txt file that is included with each and every giveaway!! Each one is different and provides instructions for that specific giveaway. You may need to visit a website to register or even to download some or all of the software.
3) Try disabling your antivirus software for a few minutes while you begin installation. If you try to install a giveaway and get a message that it is successfully activated, but no installation actually took place, this is likely to be the solution. It is an issue related to our wrapper. All of our downloads are tested and guaranteed to be virus free. If you want proof, scan the download before turning off your AV. Don't forget to enable it again immediately!
4) If all else fails, read the comments that have already been posted. You may find someone has shared the solution you need.

It wouldn't hurt if people had to check off a box saying they had read these tips before being allowed to comment. Sure would beat that reCAPTCHA.

Bebop17,

C:\Users\Jim\AppData\Local\Temp\3VNdeVvC.msi.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.

Try again later, or contact the server administrator.

Bebop17, I don't know how to contact the right People, but maybe you might know who to write everything you just typed. Everything you wrote is useful. Please include that after Downloading the Zip File, Click "Properties" of the Zip File, then place a Checkmark in the Box that reads "Unblock." Only after then "Run as Administrator." Then install the Program after you have done that. Could you send this infformation to the right People? If you can or know whom to Contact, please let me know also. I would like to send them the same information!

Reply   |   Comment by David Wellman  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

David Wellman, It's a text file. No unblocking or running involved.

Reply   |   Comment by Jim Jones  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-4)

Jim Jones, the "part" at the end of the filename means the file is incomplete. It should just end with "msi" which stands for Microsoft Installer. Your download probably got aborted somehow. Try downloading it again.

Reply   |   Comment by Bebop17  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Bebop17, Yes, I know what a .part file is. I have tried repeatedly to download this and it aborts every time, at different positions in the file.

> Your download probably got aborted somehow.

Yes, constant reports of server problems.

Reply   |   Comment by Jim Jones  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

David Wellman, checking off "Unblock" in File Properties and choosing "Run as Administrator" are both good suggestions. Because of my setup I don't run into either of those issues so I didn't think of them.

As for getting the info to the right people, I would hope the site administrators read these comments. If you want to take it further, you could use the Contact page or Forums. There are links to both in the footer.

Jim Jones, I'm not a mind reader. Your comment was addressed to me, in reply to my comment about how to deal with installation and registration problems, so I offered help. Perhaps next time you could explain the point of your comment at the time you make it instead of simply cutting and pasting the same error message, with zero context, into two different comments.

Ted, To be fair, this is an unusual way to do this. The 'description of the process' implies that the developer is not an English speaker. A heads up that the file is a text file would be useful, since users here would hardly expect that to be the only thing in the zip file.

Reply   |   Comment by Jim Jones  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

Jim Jones, to be fair, there IS a heads up. In bold, at the top of the page, it says "The download archive doesn't include the installer, please refer to the readme file for the Giveaway process!"

What always terrifies me -- and this isn't a terror triggered by solely reading GOTD comments -- is that people who can't / won't/ seem utterly unable to read even the simplest instructions. . . actually getr to vote. Democracyu's fine as far as it goes, but it sure as heck doesn't go very far when there are hundreds, if not thousands, out there who can't even read a flippin' label yet have a role in deciding the governance of a country.

GOTD has in my experience always been unambiguous in its readme text, yet time after wearying time comment threads like this are peppered with idiotic queries about install problems.

As to this particular giveaway, I once attempted to trial an earlier promotion from this developer and then abandoned it. Why? Too many hoops to go through.

The developer is not alone. By contrast, a recent giveaway here by a highly respected developer -- Teorex -- demonstrated just how a giveaway promotion should be run. Sadly, not all developers are of the calibre of Teorex but perhaps they'll up their game when fewer and fewer potential customers walk away because it's all too much bother.

* And I'm getting tired of these ludicrous Captcha verifications, too. (End rant.)

I'm using this product for some time as a beta tester for the reseller in the BeNeLux, works like a charm.
Getting monthly reports on what sites have been blocked, also some programs are automatically patched (don't know this GotD will do so too)

So Thumbs UP!

I'll start off by saying I haven't installed this software simply because I already have suitable protection installed which does a very good job, so can't/won't comment on the software. However, felt I had to put in my 2 cents worth about the number of people complaining about not being able to install. Perhaps, if you took just a couple of minutes to take the time to READ THE INSTRUCTIONS you might actually manage to do it yourself in stead of having someone hold your hand and guide you through what is really a very simple process. As a rule I usually wait a few hours, read the comments left by people that have actually installed and tried the software, then install it myself and form my own opinions and if I feel there is a worthwhile comment to be made I'll post it. Never had any issues installing anything from the GOTD site ...Because I read the instructions.

honestly speaking, who don't start as a blur newbie when using pc or in IT.
just because years of experience move a person to an expert level,
& yet can't see good info from others here, & then starting to yell.
because other experts go somewhere else.
so the left behind experts can't have info that they want.
if you don't want to pay back to guide newbies, go somewhere else.
i speak from an instructor's point of view.

i started using pc since sep 1999, but i didn't involve GOTD.
until 2005 jul, i was on notebook in XP os.
years later, i came to know GOTD, free s/w to dl.
that times, s/w from GOTD, easy to dl & install.
the s/w got help menu to refer.
just try out here & there, normally not much issue.
i didn't know even has forum to follow up.
as years went, as i did not upgrade os & IE browser.
then i dropped out from GOTD.
i used the old notebook until jun 2015 as it was dead.

until nov 2016, i got a new notebook on win 10 os.
since the os is so new & i need a lot of s/w.
i went back to GOTD for free s/w.
& also i came to know got forum.
b4 i want to dl any s/w,
sure come here to check any feedback from win 10 users.
not so much on how good or how to use the s/w.
what i concern:- is this s/w fit for win 10 os.
if no feedback, wait till 1 hour be ending, took a risk to dl.

after every s/w that i dl, i will report here asap whether it was successful.
just try to help other win 10 users to make their decision,
as a pay back as what others did here.
but such a neutral comment on dl & install issue can receive thumb down.
1 of my such report got more than -30.
i really did not understand it can become a sore eye for some people.
if anyone is an expert, yes, all these worth nothing to look at.

Morgan Pierce, honest to you, i am not a s/w reviewer,
& my english is sub-standard, not a good writer also.
so till now i did not & unable to put up a review, sorry for that.
but i will report here for every s/w that i dl & install to help others.
even such report will end up -1000.

i want to thanks those people spending own time & effort to help those who are lost & blur,
by pointing the correct way of handling, even it was mentioning & repeated many times.
because they are showing CARE here.
THANKS, as they know not all people has the SAME ability, capacity, mentality.
THANKS, as they are willing to help others people to grow, improve, be better.

for those want value comment, can you get it?
how many people can turn experience into words?
even those can, soon or later will go somewhere to earn their $$$.
even those can, how long can they provide the free service here?
so, it is what happen on the forum now.

Had to jump through the GOTD hoops of sending download link to my email first. After that, I did as told installed Heimdal with no problems. It took all of 20 mins. It's really not hard to do and program seems to fit well with someone who needs it. Just trying to inform.

As usual over half the comments are people who can't follow instructions, a shame we don't get decent reviews of the products like days of yore, the user ratings are pointless and may as well not be there - user ratings should only be allowed by people who have installed the software rather than those that can't tie their own shoelaces.

Reply   |   Comment by Marty  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+15)

Marty, why don't you get your finger out and give some feed back about software. How do we know you installed? Comments should be allowed by all, its called freedom of speech.

Heimdal FREE is all i need, I don't need another layer of security but do recommend this if needed

Reply   |   Comment by Tomred  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-3)

Marty,

Agreed, the state of affairs is pretty sad. In fact, IMHO it would be of tremendous benefit to users of this site if the comments section were split into two sections:

One section for "troubleshooting" (most likely consisting of the usual complaints about a "corrupted" download, something went wrong with the install/can't find the program/can't activate...because for some inexplicable reason I decided to ignore the strange document entitled "README.txt", which happens to be included in EVERY single .zip archive offered for download from this website, EVERY single day. Other random musings, lame attempts at humor, ad hominem attacks, and assorted daily gibberish could perhaps also go in this section. And...

Another section for actual reviews/commentary about the ACTUAL functioning and/or performance of the software, by people who have taken the time to install it, load it, and use it. Although... as you've alluded to in your post, I suspect this "review" section--while potentially very informative--would unfortunately end up having the proverbial tumbleweeds blowing through it.

Reply   |   Comment by RDionysus  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+22)

Tomred,

after installation I can tell you only that it will help me to keep my programs updated. This is good, however nothing special. What this software will do more helpful, I can tell you when it has blocked the first attack. I hope that I will never have to tell this.

Btw, I like comments here with an informing content. A complaining of those who cannot read and follow a simple instruction is a bit boring and wasting time. I don't know whether I should laugh or cry about such posts.

Can't find a good reason to install this program. If you are running an adequate security suite with antivirus and firewall, Heimdal just doesn't bring much to the table. A google search produces mostly references to various giveaway sites. None of the various reputable review sites include Heimdal. I'll pass.

Took me a moment to figure it out, but here's how:

The unzipped text directs you to go to the registration page.

Press the red button "Get Heimadal Pro for FREE" and enter your email
on the next page.

Press "Continue to download", download the program installer for the Pro version and
copy the registration key.

Run the program installer and enter the key to register it.

It installed for me without a hitch on Win10. Hope this helped!

Works correctly if you carefully follow install instructions.(all you need is link from Readme file - no actual software exists in the zip archive).

Only patching module works in this version.

B.Bailey, Please note: The software includes a 6-months license and comes with free technical support and updates. The download archive doesn't include the installer, please refer to the readme file for the Giveaway process!

B.Bailey, Most likely, your AV solution got it. You can check that as the first. The developer or GAOTD have wrapped the zip file in a way, your protection don't like. Then you allready got, what you need. Good luck, if you really gonna use this kind of protection

buckoooo, Right, that's the reason, I wrote "most likely". There's no way, I would use Heimdal again, and I was too lazy to try it out on another user's behalf. Have a nice day

Endomondo, firewall works at port and packet inspection level, so it's different than what Heimdal PRO does.
