I am also getting the message when downloading from youtube.com
"Error! Please check your network connection, then try again." I get it for every single video and it's getting very frustrating. Any suggestions??

Get the following message often when downloading from youtube. ie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1yhtjbOnz4

Error! Please check your network connection, then try again.

Sometimes it does not appear on the second attempt, many times it will now go away.

I downloaded this latest version on my Win 7 64-bit laptop with approx 6GB of memory.
On this Downloader/Converter version, I tested this converter on a couple of older 90's medium 48oP quality Youtube videos, at your downloader"s (Smart fit mode mp4), also tried a custom setting of highest quality 1080HD H.264 setting, with (all your Video enhancement options checked). the output video quality , was okay, but was hoping can get a little better quality perhaps? **(Also I used all the the Enhance Options Avail)**
***I first used Your (Smart fit) option outputted a small trimmed down to 1 min of a 5 min test video at a final size of only 6MB- ( But video quality was not that good) .

****So next with very same video, I did a custom profile of H.264 MP4 at 1080HD and Max video bit rate of 40K, W-fox 9.4 outputted the small trimmed down to 1 min test video at a final size of a huge over 200MB in size. ( video quality was better than the previous of course, but for the size, still not as good as similiar Video downloaders/Converters like Bigasoft, and Idealshare, which I also used same max 1080hd settings, but at only 20k Max bitrate, their final output file sizes were only like 19MB each. ) , and the resolution quality is still a little better than the massive W-fox 9 converter file, also W-Fox 9.4 takes approx almost 10 mins to fully download a small 5 min online video, these others converters download and convert online videos in less than a minute .

***I do still prefer your Wonderfox online video converter for the frequent updates, price, Support, but really need to resolve these Video quality and size issues with W-Fox 9.4 first.
**(Additional Feedback Options Needed)**

Unless I overlooked in program, would greatly improve this converter, to have these, or at some of these (Super great basic features) possibly added to your converter in future releases:

*1 Video in and fade out, feature mainly at end of video downloads
*2 Multi-trim or cut out several parts of same video
*3 Video sound effect to max or boost video sound without clipping or distorting
*4 Option to mute out undesired or Bad words in a video audio
*5 Auto correct/Enhance of video resolution, lighting or sound problems

*6 Option to Blur out or remove a standing or even a moving object in videos

Advice please!

I downloaded the zip and unzipped it but when I run the setup it just says it was successfully activated. What do I need to do to run the software?

Reply   |   Comment by gussie  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

gussie and anyone else with this problem: temporarily disable your antivirus software before you run the setup program, and don't forget to reactivate it immediately after the installation is complete.

(I lost the opportunity at a number of giveaways I was really interested in before I figured this out . . . ☹ )

This is the second Giveaway of the day that I could not get to install on my Windows 7 64-bit machine. I researched the error messages:

Janet, I'm in the same boat: most of the new format GotD downloads will not install on either of my Win7 machines, one a Win7Pro and the other Home Premium. On the latter, a 64 bit Win7, after selecting setup.exe, only the grayed out completion of setup screen results (admin or user privileges) and no program setup launch ever displays. Just because you like using a long out-of-date OS doesn't mean everyone else does--or that you're at the top of any software designers "Must-do" list.

Reply   |   Comment by Matt  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-16)

The software system requirements state that it runs on Windows 7 so being having a "long out-of-date OS" would not seem to be the issue. It appears to me that it is something in the GAOTD install wrapper that is causing the problem.

Reply   |   Comment by Janet  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+15)

Matt: what's with this "out-of-date OS" deal? As of Jan 16 > 50% of Windows users have Win 7, and it's on 47% of all desktops/laptops per StatCounter in Jan 2016. Its extended EOL isn't 'til 2020 per http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/lifecycle. Hope you weren't one of those early Windows 8 adopters and muddled through that OS 'til it sorta was almost fixed. :-)

Yes... NOT AGAIN, and even worse I am using my mobile phone internet data to download the package. Which is very taxing on my data limits with nothing to show for it.

Is Giveaway Of The Day even recognising there is a big minority of people who would LOVE to install yesterday's Zoner Photo Studio 16 Pro
A.N.D.
todays - "HD Video Converter Factory Pro 9.4" ????????

My system is a Win 7 32bit Home Premium OS which is well in the requirements list.
Sincerely I hope GAOTD come to the party to reissue the offering to those of us who are currently missing out.

Kindly,
Jeff D.

Matt,
It's really a Stupid comment you made about Users using long out of date OS. If users want to use Windows 10 that's their choice, It usually takes MS 1 to 2 years to get the Bugs out of there own OS even after using Free Preview versions of there OS. So many users don't like the install problems and incompatibility issues until there are fixes from MS and software designers own fixes as well.

I have both Win 10 Pro and Win 7 Pro installed on separate Computers, Win 10 OS Great but not that Great Yet. So i use Windows 7 half the time as most of the time no problems. Also Note which you forget and most important about software designers, If they are worth there salt, (good) AND WANT TO MAKE CASH, then it's Stupid to design just for 1 OS, That's why Good Software designers can Cater to Some Older OS. of course they can only go back so far no good for Dead OS. And Win 7 OS is still going Strong, So that's money they will lose on sales!.

And if i remember by past experience By the time MS get there OS working up to Par, then lo and Behold New OS arrives. And remember We are MS, OS Testers now that's why they release there Free Preview versions for us to find their Bugs for them! lol
Mark (Australia).

Mark,
You are absolutely right. Users can use whatever OS they want to.

So can developers.

You seem like a savvy guy. The fact that developers often quit supporting long-outdated OS should not come as a surprise to you. I'm not sure why that is, your arguments for not *personally* wanting to change notwithstanding..

Reply   |   Comment by Matt  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-5)

Mark,
Also--having tested software for a couple of years, I will tell you that what a software developer wants and the company THAT HE WORKS FOR is willing to pay for are often different products. And I worked for a very large software company that wasted TONS of money on projects. But developers still didn't get what they wanted, and old OS compatibility--and any Mac--was not anywhere near a priority.

I bet that some of the companies giving away software here have yearly budgets significantly less than what the company I worked on would spend on a single release. So cut them some slack.

Reply   |   Comment by Matt  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-4)

Matt,
I have changed to Win 10 OS, but like i said i still use Win 7 HALF the time.
Your thought of mind is Good, but at the Same time New OS has Arrived Must Have straight away, Like MS OS must be the new thing and have straight away, And so there Must be no problems, But Alas not always So, So we have to wait for SP, and Software Designers to write there software for Whatever New OS systems arrive from MS.

My original Comment is Sought of a reminder to people like you and others, that not everyone has switched, Or not Savvy Enough to have Changed yet... But for commenting on people using Older
OS, So it's their Fault for Software not working on there OS is a harsh.

Anyway as you Read GOTD users complaining about software install problems or problems using the installed Software Like today's Giveaway and past Software and always future Software will be the same.
Usually it's the same either people don't read the Read Me File to see how to install. or GOTD Wrapper has a Fault, which they usually Fix a few hours later.
OR there computer has a system problem, OR Software Designers have made a Slight Mistake in
there coding, Remember Today's Giveaway is For OS's Win 7 To Win 10. AS STATED even on Wondersoft site, And Nobody said you have to use an older OS, as not everyone else users Win 10 OS as well, And if Software designers want to make Money they should have a Must do list for at least Older Systems form say Win 7 OS?, That's maybe because Win XP i don't use anymore, oops
Thinking of myself. lol.
Oh user's From Win Vista up to check your System Files, do the following.
1. Left Click Mouse Button on Windows Start.
2. In Search Type CMD.
3. CMD, icon will Appear at Top of the Search Box, Don't worry about other search Results.
4. Now Right Click Mouse Button On CMD Icon, and Choose Run As Administrator.
5. A DOS Box Type Of Window Will Appear, Now Type as Follows: sfc /scannow

6. Scan will Commence, might take awhile, Wait for Results.
7. If You Get the Following Results Everything Should Be Good:
Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
8. If Not Find How to Fix !!!
9. Check SFC Log, it will show all System Problems, and You will have to Read up on the net how to fix, also how to view SFC log file, i actually have a Memory Blockage today on how to view the log file, probably remember a little later when not thinking about it. Again lol Duh

Sorry Matt you seem to be taking it Personal, but i'm not Blaming Software Designers Personally, I'm basically Saying
not other peoples fault if they have a Not too old OS.

Maybe You work or worked for MS! Ok just a Joke don't take it serious. Anyway it's today's software that should work on Systems they claim, Even though i think most pc users make some small mistakes when installing GOTD software. So i am giving everybody some Slack, i'm way from Savvy Myself. anyway have a good day and be good to your Mum (Mom if yor are in USA), as i just lost mine and can make a person very Cranky and upset, so enjoy Life.

I downloaded and installed HD Video Converter Factory Pro 9.4 and then I tried to convert a 4 minute video to MP3 audio. The software wouldn't do it. Instead a "Register Now" screen appeared telling me that the EVALUATION copy of HD Video Converter Factory Pro 9.4 only will convert videos shorter than 5 minutes.

Mike, you need to manually insert the key that was given to you. It should be written in installer window that stays open after the installation has finished. Alternatively it's written in a "readme" file that comes packed in zip with installer.

Reply   |   Comment by Ken  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+8)

Mike, read readme.txt :) In readme is license key - select, use ctrl+c, in software click Register and ctrl+V = full version. Its simple.

Downloaded and installed and registered on win 10 64 with no problems.
Converted a 21 mb mp4 video to 7mb H265 video file in about 1 minute, with little or not apparent loss of quality. Tested the video download utility on youtube. After short analysis it showed all the available formats and by default selected the highest quality. Download worked with no problems. Then the software automatically performed "merging" of the video with the audio. It took several minutes but the result was very good. Testes the ringtone studio to trim a video file and convert it into an android mp3 ringtone. worked fine.
Intuitive interface, very easy and simple to use. I like it. The only thing I haven't figured out yet is how to apply any eppects on the video to be converted (there's a magic wand icon, but it is greyed out).
overall, I like this giveaway very much. It's compression abilites are good and usefull. It is a keeper. Thank you GAOTD and WonderFox.

Reply   |   Comment by Tim  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+4)

Tim,

There's no real need or advantage to uninstalling old versions...

Wonderfox video apps are almost portable, with files in the program's folder & a folder in My Documents. If you install to the same program folder location it will simply overwrite the old version, & its files in My Documents will get overwritten as well.

Installed and registered without any problems on Win 10. Couldn't get the drag and drop to work, had to go through the menu to add a file to convert, and started with a 932mb video file, set it to 720P (hd) and that bumped up the file size to 3.8GB. Seems large, but I'm ok with that. Conversion ran quickly, about 4% done in under 5 seconds (converting while I'm writing this out) Has a small "preview" window showing images of the movie while it's converting. Comparing the two videos, I'm not really seeing much change at all. screen is slightly larger, but graphics pretty much look the same. This does however, convert quickly and efficiently, and a lot better than Aiseesoft video converter that i've been using. Haven't played with the cutting, or merging, or...anything else except converting, but first impressions are really good.

Reply   |   Comment by Levitiquetus  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+4)

Levitiquetus,
If the resulting video is no better, but four times the size, why would you want to do it in the first place?

Reply   |   Comment by george  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+18)

Levitiquetus, drag and drop works but not if you ran it from the installer, because installer runs it with administrative privileges.

Reply   |   Comment by Josh  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

Levitiquetus,

"started with a 932mb video file, set it to 720P (hd) and that bumped up the file size to 3.8GB"

That because of the settings you used...

The size of a video file is determined partly by the frame size -- 4k has more pixels per frame than 1080p, which has more than 720p, which has more than 480i etc. The more pixels you have, the more storage space it takes to store them. Fps [Frames Per Second] has a similar effect -- the more frames in a video the more pixels it has to store.

The method of video compression, & the settings used for that, also have a big effect. H.264 [AVC] is arguably the most popular, & it's more efficient than mpg2 or Xvid [often called DivX in these sorts of apps], so files at the same quality will be smaller. There are quality settings, plus bit rate settings which also effect quality -- lower quality &/or lower bit rate settings make for smaller file sizes. H.265 & WebM are similar in working the same way re: file size.

"Comparing the two videos, I'm not really seeing much change at all"

You will ALWAYS have generational loss when you re-encode video, because the methods &/or codecs are lossy, meaning basically that some data is tossed out. That you didn't see much change is good -- my point is that you want to avoid re-encoding as possible because it will always have a cost in quality.

Likewise I think you'll find that very often you'll get better results using the player to control the size of the picture, because of the quality that you lose re-sizing & then re-encoding.

"This does however, convert quickly and efficiently, and a lot better than Aiseesoft video converter that i've been using."

Most of these convertors use ffmpeg for decoding & re-encoding video. Similar QT code is usually used for re-sizing. Because of that, if one is noticeably faster than another, it's probably because of the encoding settings that were used. This can be important. Because you don't have access or control over many of the encoder settings in these converters, unless you check the results with something like MediaInfo & test it, you don't know if quality related settings or features have been turned off for the sake of speed. Likewise you don't know if the results are fully compatible with your intended viewing device.

Reply   |   Comment by mike  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+17)

mike,
Thank you for the explanation of why the "size is larger".

It does not answer gerorge's question about why >> would you want to do it <<:
"If the resulting video is no better, but four times the size, * why would you want to do it * in the first place?"
Why end up with 4 times the size if quality is no better (it can not be! if the source does not have any more details).

This is a general question for the community, especially people knowledgeable like you.

Many of these photo / video / audio programs offer and claim 'conversion' to higher resolution.
Does this work? How can it?
Isn't it best to ignore vendor claims and keep it at original resolution (except for size/form factor change)?

I think the 'conversion' SW vendors should show 1) resolution of the source and 2) suggest maximum conversion that is meaningful. With this information it is up to the user to go beyond and increase the "resolution (size)" without any benefit.

Thanks

Reply   |   Comment by vin  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+5)

vin,
Obviously you cannot put better detail in the video than is in the original, but because of the power and sophistication of modern computers it is possible to make the viewing experience better.
Some converters have video enhancement and this will make it better for older people to see because they need a higher contrast and possibly more vibrant colours.
mike is purely referring to the technical aspects without consideration of the way the eye works and cleverer video converters take care of this aspect.

Thanks for explaining the nuances of converting to higher 'quality'.
So, would the bottom line be that
'if you do not see quality difference (just only larger file size), stay with the original'?
