@34 (Randall) Hi, 7art is known (by me) mainly for their clock screesavers and decent graphics, much more superior to some of Astro Gemini's (!!) I don't know much about how they operate (7art that is), except for an unfortunate nowadays "support" from adds..I too hate that! As to who "copies" from whom regarding Screesavers and Wallpapers my guess is as good as that of a next person - that "yard" is crowdy indeed.. using the same images and graphics in every possible (also legal aspect ) ways.

Like with some of Giovanni's links to free Softwares - some of them require caution to watch carefully what NOT to accept in a process of installing. 7art - therefore should have my warning included in my original post here yesterday, for omittance of which I apologize.

As to graphics of Astro Gemini.. I will always stand by what many, many People point out: They hardly moved on from days when we were accepting simple, moving, awkward looking "shapes" changing position on our screens, or images (photos) running as Slideshows.., sorry.

Charging cash for something they describe "high-quality 3D animations" and "extremely realistic(?:) graphics", and in many cases IS NOT - depends on a taste of individual Clients who are willing to pay, and far from "putting anybody down" - I personally have bigger expectations before parting with my cash..
But, it was a free Gift, and apart from that - many People stick to their favorite Publishers and Developers, no matter what..

Finally - not long ago a "tree-clock" from Astro Gemini was given away here.. The SAME clock (specialty of 7art, well before Astro Gemini started their "clock screensavers"..) was known to me from years back (for free, and without any adds then) from 7art Site.. Strange? I don't know. I am not in Software business to know who buys publishing rights from whom, just an observer with years of interest in PC Softwares and buying or downloading them for personal use. I share my knowledge also here on GAOTD, and from time to time recommend something worth sharing with others. In my view.

I love the screen savers from Astro Gemini and usually do not have a problem installing them on a XP sp3, but this time I did. I should say that it looked like it installed, but when I go to run it, it acts like it is going to load then it stops. I tried to run or preview it in different ways but no go. I looked at some of the screens on the webpage and desided that this screen saver is not for me. Thank you GOTD and Astro Gemini, looking forward to your next one.

In reference to Fran's comment about 7art-screensavers.com screen savers. After having looked at them, I would in no way recommend one of their goofy looking screen savers. They take a picture from a third party (probably illegally) and add Disney type animated characters, with one screen saver I downloaded actually using Arial from the Little Mermaid. They also try to get you to install some spyware along with the screen saver. AVOID THEM!!!!

As screensavers go, this isn't bad. Sounds are a little hokey and the graphics are definitely old school. But I still liked it and will leave it installed on my laptop for times when I am using it without a second monitor.

My main problem with this screensaver is that it doesn't work with multiple monitors. In fact, it doesn't even attempt to work when the second monitor is attached. One has to wonder why the developers would not have this option as many desktop users who would be interested in this type of product use multiple monitors.

Hi, not for the first time:) - if You're interesting in alternative Freeware(s) check out - 7art-screensavers.com

And on Halloween "theme" - there is also this one:
"7art Halloween Festival 3D ScreenSaver 1.5", yes, absolutely free (should Anyone miss Today's Offer, but wanting to decorate Desktop, and/or entertain Children at Festive, Halloween time)

Not having any specific "issues" with Astro Gemini, except questioning (as usual) quality of their graphics - I truly.. smile seeing on their Homepage how they try to sell their "Absolutely All 3D Screensavers in One Pack" for.. wait for it, already astronomical:) price of nearly $50 (saving yourself over.. $600!..) Considering each single one costs normally around 10 bucks - that will be 60 Screensavers, right?, but for mere $50, mind, that means each Screensaver.., oh, my head is spinning already enough as it is:))

Enjoy, what ever is Your view, what ever is Your pleasure!:)

Skipping this one, I don't use screensavers, not even the one from BOINC.

Still, their screensavers are good. I used to have their Solar System 3D Screensaver and it was amazing. So have fun with this one.

Thanks anyway GOTD and Astro Gemini Software.

Very nice screensaver everyone can enjoy. You can change the settings for music, sound effects, video mode, time, gamma control, FPS, and to exit on mouse move if you wish through the windows screensaver settings panel.

Astro Gemini always has enjoyable, well made screensavers I can enjoy anytime, this one really brings out the playfullness of halloween.

Thank You!

If you don't like screensavers, wait for your free dream software for another day. I wouldn't want a program that wakes me up to a nuclear bomb either so I would pass on it. This is a program you might use for a week or so and that's all I intend to do. Some people won't be happy until they start handing out free iPad Mini's.

My kids LOVE it! Would it be worth it to buy? No - I don't use screen savers any longer and for $10 - not that big of a novelty. Thank you for allowing us to try it out. It is nicely done.

This appears to be the same screen saver they gave away last year, although I lost that so I don't mind getting it again. But I wish they would just package a bunch together instead of trying to sell them separately.

It's 17MB's of "deviliscious" fun.

The plot thickens...
I'm stuck 1996 with micrografx simply 3d having a deviliscious good time.

Now some questions
Why does the bicycle have no seat?
Why no Billy Big Mouth Bass?
Is the devil in the jack in the box, or is that all just a metaphore.

Okay you all know I'm kidding a bit, lighten up. I like it I like the screensaver, someone spent time making art here and it's fun. Thumbs up.

OK, so this is a little hokey, but that is also what makes it rather endearing. I downloaded and installed it and ir runs fine under WIN64 and doesn't hurt performance. I'll enjoy it until Thanksgiving rolls around. Thank you GOTD and Astro Gemini.

@ # 3: "3D screensavers just hampers the performance of pc". Of course, but being what they are, "screensavers", they are supposed to be operational as soon as the elapsed time without touching your mouse, keyboard or any other imput device has been reached, thus you are not using your computer since X minutes. Why would you need performance? If you are a NASA scientist and your PC is doing operations to track something is outer space 24/24, of course you may not want to have a screensaver :p
Havanice weekend!

Downloaded and setup was a breeze, runs smoothly, graphics are not very crisp, a little on the fuzzy side running a 350meg video card on windows 7, 2.0Ghz and 4 gig ram, not going to keep using due to the fuzziness :-( nice try tho :-)

@ Rokktim, currently post #3: Anything can hamper the performance of a PC if it is by nature resource-heavy. But software doesn't land on a computer without the user asking for it. So. . . if you don't want resource-heavy software, don't install it. Simple.

Big thanks to Rob at post #2 for finally nailing what this kind of software truly is: a NOVELTY. An ENTERTAINMENT. It has NO PRACTICAL PURPOSE. It makes NO CLAIM TO BE OF PRACTICAL USE.

I don't have kids of an age who'd perhaps delight in seeing this spooky fun thing on a 'puter screen, but I bet there'll be parents in the GAOTD community who do. And those parents will be just like anyone else trying out a novelty: either they'll like it, or they won't. Simple.

All this harping on about resources -- ye gods, of course it's resource heavy! Isn't there a great big clue in the word "3D"??? -- and, for all I know, future comments about how screensavers-were-only-useful-with-CRT-monitor is irrelevant.

Thanks GAOTD and Astro Gemini; this kind of novelty software isn't for me but that's no reason for it to be down-voted by button-pushing "users" (yeah, right!) in the way it already has.

Quick comment. Good, if you like this kind of thing. Would be nice just to have on the computer in a room with decorations & people coming in/out. Pictures from the Dev website will show you the quality of the 3D. Outdated quality models (blocky) and good quality textures (images on the 3d models) This one is a Thumbs up. Give it a go if you like Screen Savers or just want to add some decor to your computer room.

Installed on Windows 7 64bit without any problems.
Asks/verified install directory.
After installation, the Screen Saver Settings window came right up, which is nice and convenient.

Install went smooth and I clicked "Preview" which gave me a good look at the active SS.

Just as a FYI, as this is no big concern...
Comodo Internet Security Pro flagged the .exe as an 'unrecognized' file and isolated it in SANDBOX mode. This gives the screen saver executible limited access, unlike a 'trusted' program.

Waiting for the millionth comment about screen savers being unnecessary software. ;)

Astro Gemini are a leader in this field and their screen savers are always great quality, animation is always smooth and best of all, endlessly amuse my little granddaughter :)))

Downloaded and installed flawlessly on my Win7 machine (as they always do!) and had a look at the settings.

These check box settings include:
- Screen size (detected mine automatically);
- Music (spooky) with volume control;
- Enable sound effects;
- Gamma control - default setting perfect for me (110%);
- Miscellaneous options:
- Show FPS (frames per second);
- Exit on mouse move;
- Show time (12hr or 24 hr);

I find showing the FPS or the clock distracting, so do not have them enabled and also the Astro Gemini brand is always jarring against the screen saver, even though it is placed at the bottom.

Astro Gemini - please consider removing the brand, it's ugly against your beautiful screen savers.

Rokktim: If you're that worried about screen savers hampering "the performance of pc...." the Astro Gemini settings have a link to your computer's power settings, which can also be found via the Control Panel.

Thank you Astro Gemini for being a long time guest on GAotD (ever since I can remember) and offering yet another beautiful holiday screen saver.

I give it a rock solid 9/10 and would give the last point if the brand was removed - I'm looking forward to seeing a Thanksgiving one next! (hint, hint) ;) Thank you also to the GAotD team.

Thanks for the offer, but I havent used these kind of software for the past 15 years.

Should I buy something in this category then would it be a blank (turn off the monitor or just make it dark) screensaver with user controlled music list !

Awesome!

Astro Gemini screensavers execute in your system as an actual 3D environment with sights and sounds as the scene changes camera angles. Great dynamic worlds and I have enjoyed nearly every one of their great screensaver giveaways.

It does use some resources while the scene is running, and there is always an option to disable the little client program from startup completely. I thought I'd mention it because of the typical complaints about resource usage and the fact we no longer need to "save screens" with the new monitors. These are purely a novelty, and if you like screensavers in general, these are quite enjoyable.

I've been running the "Spooky Holloween" screensaver this year (it was last year's giveaway), and I was expecting them to give it away again. Now I have a great new one I can run in my media computer on our widescreen. My kids are always mesmarized by the design of these wonderful screensavers. I have a bunch of these now thanks do being a long time GAOTD participant - Might just go ahead and buy a couple this time around.

Thanks again Astro Gemini and GAOTD!
