Louis Zapata,
Read my comment #35 below. Glary decided to end the giveaway one hour too early:
"Glary Utilities Pro 1-year license giveaway
Only available from 7 AM, Oct 22nd to 8 AM, Oct 23rd, 2019 (London, United Kingdom time)"
So although you were able to install, as I was, you cannot register the program.

Seems that Glary utilities decided to end this giveaway @ 8:00 am UK time, not 9am. So in spite of the giveaway still being active here, the activation web page no longer has the I'm not a robot box or the get my key now button.
Very disappointed, will have to uninstall.

you should be able to turn your AV and security software completely off. if you cant, i recommend switching to another security app like Windows Defender if your on win 8 or 10. its free, built in to 10, low impact, and quite good.

Reply   |   Comment by Thomas Black  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-9)

Thomas Black, Don't know what your problem is, or if you even know what you are talking about, but I have used Glary Utilities for over a decade, and it has always been an essential part of my problem fixing software! It does exactly what I need it to do. Maybe you don't have experience with this particular software? If not, you should give it a try, and I mean a serious try; not one of those halfhearted tries someone with a preconceived opinion will used to validate that opinion. Get it, install it, set it up for the way you want it to work, and then run it. Let it complete it's scan, and then let it fix any problems it finds. My PC always runs better after I run and use Glary Utilities.

Thomas Black, It's a tool like anything else. Misuse it you'll do harm. Use it when not needed, it'll do nothing. This is one of the better utilities out there. Not brilliant, but certainly not bad, and useful for those who know what they're doing.

Reply   |   Comment by JDP  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

Thomas Black, I agree. This utility contains two functions which all PC experts agree should be avoided. A registry cleaner and a driver update utility. The registry cleaner, at best, would speed up your boot time about 1/1000th of a single second after fully "cleaning". And "cleaning" is not "fixing" which most people think. I highly recommend everyone avoid driver updaters too. You do NOT need to update drivers unless you having a specific problem. The only driver that should be updated regularly is your video driver, and only if you are gamer who purchases games often. Other than that, if you drivers are working, don't touch them.

Reply   |   Comment by Annon  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

Annon, You are incorrect on practically everything you said here.

First of all "all PC experts agree", you really expect most of us here to believe that? I happen to be friends with several of them, including a couple from Microsoft. Guess what? All of them agree that Glary Utilities is a great product. I've communicated with many more online, and none have spoken badly about Glary Utilities. Then if you read down the comments here, you will see mostly glowing reports about it.

Your words: "The registry cleaner, at best, would speed up your boot time about 1/1000th of a single second after fully "cleaning"..." Where are you getting your information? Most definitely not from any prominent source. My boot time speeds up significantly every time I use Glary Utilities, and I have used it for over 10 years. Also, "Cleaning" is a type of "Fix"; but not one that removes malware from your system. For that you need a good anti-malware program. It is well known that as different types of temporary files build up in your registry, your PC gets slower, including boot time. Removal of those files brings back the speed of your PC. If you say it does not, you really don't know what you are talking about. I speak from experience, and I say this program does what it says it does, and does it well.

I used Glary way back with Windows 7 and not once have I had any issues with it.
Of course, now most computers, ie., Samsung, Lenova, ASUS; many have their own maintenance software bundles installed, providing the user keep these updated also. Add to that, how microsoft has made improvements to their OS over time.
But not all of these types of software, just like antivirus, are going to catch every problem or every bug.
As for Glary though, I would definitely rate this within my top 5 list.

I'll be uninstalling Advanced System Care 12.5 Pro due to the constant nagging to upgrade. I've used Glary in the past but seem to recall also being nagged at the end of the registration period. Neither are worth actually purchasing due to various other methods, often free, of achieving the same thing.

I have been using the free version of Glary (currently 5.128.0.153, so this seems newer) for years. As others state, many of the tools are available in Windows. The benefit here is they are all under one roof, good for those not overly computer savvy or who are looking for simplilcity.

I also use a variety of other tools to clean and maintain my system as there is no one silver bullet to get it done. These include CCleaner, Wide Disk Cleaner, PureRa and ATF Cleaner (these last two are old but still work). A lot of tools; sure, but I keep them in a folder (System Maintenance), run them sequentially once every few weeks, then kick off a backup of my system.

Just installed this Pro version with 1-year license, will decide a year from now if I pay for continued Pro use or go back to the free version. Thanks Glary for the chance to try the enhanced (and supported) version for the next year.

Reply   |   Comment by HerbA  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+9)

HerbA, been using versions for years Win 10 x64 Pro now, no issues. Just a note that at end of Year (likely sooner) they will offer a higher ver, again free here or @, that will extend your expire. It's one of the better kind at updating its versions. Only rem maybe once or twice did I run against a higher version fail when a major upgrade happened. Just uninstalled prior series & did new higher series (like if on V 3 & Glary starts 4.xxx) and off it went. Did v5.xxx update today on existing registered ver.
Overview tab / Check for Updates. Given big sizes of mod storage it's worth having on hand for rare need.

Not impressed with this at all. I ran the clean function on this program, and then ran free version of Ccleaner. Ccleaner got 1127 tracker cookies that GU missed. I'll play with it a little bit, but I think that before too long I will have to introduce it to IOBit uninstaller.

Glary Utilities is safe and conservative (mild), I just click on all the boxes and click clean, it never causes problems. Personally I find CCCleaner complicated and risky.

I am happy using Iobit advanced system care and often can find offer for free 6 months pro licence.

Here are alternatives to Glary Utilities PRO which from the reviews I saw seems to be pretty good actually.

Reply   |   Comment by Shane Potter  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-16)

Shane Potter, I ALWAYS had problems with iobit software, either it installing unwanted software, crashing my system, slowing it down, "iobit phoning home" and maybe some others I can't remember. It all stopped once I un-installed all their software. It's a pity because besides that, their software ain't that bad, really.

Reply   |   Comment by Mario  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+10)

Mario, Sorry you had a bad time with Iobit, not that I was recommending it, I simply said I was happy with it. I am use to it and have had very little trouble with it. I have heard that many people do however and I tend to believe it is true for many. I have not installed all of Iobits software programs though and I do not like the nag to upgrade screens etc...

As stated, the reviews I read about Glary Utilities PRO seemed to indicate that it was a good program and it may be considerably better than Iobit advanced system care. But, better the devil you know, sometimes. I hope the Glary utilities program works great for others.

Reply   |   Comment by Shane Potter  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-2)

Shane Potter, Apparently you like GOTD. Have you tried the Glary Utilities? Did they not perform properly for you? These things are important to know since you are recommending other products. Personally, I find the hands-on experience is important before I will suggest other products, especially when I am trying to support GOTD, and their work to get companies to give their products a try, in order to get people to recommend them and possibly buy them. Over the years, I have purchased licenses of products that I first tried on GOTD, and was impressed with. Others haven't impressed me in operation, so I uninstalled them. That is what this website is for and I find it invaluable. Now I ask again, have you tried this product?

Reply   |   Comment by Rick_S  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

Rick_S, I should have been more forthcoming though I did state in my previous content, "the reviews I read" about Glary Utilities pro etc... And as a matter of point one of the reviews I used came from P.C. Magazine which I find to be quite on target and trustworthy most of the time.

You may feel like I am sidestepping the question so I will say that you are entirely right in saying my assessment of the software in question is questionable on account of the fact that case in point, I in fact did not try out this product.

I did notice however several responses in the comments that seemed to indicate that they thought the offering was a good one.

And in conclusion, I never claimed at any point to have tried the product Glary Utilities PRO.

I was in my own way, trying to be a useful, contributor to, the discussion.

I used this program in the past and even bought the paid version. I liked it because I could remove cached data from ALL of my Chrome profiles instead of one at a time (I work with clients and use a Chrome profile for each one so I'm not logging in and out of 1000 accounts.)

However, I found the constant notifications to update software including this program to be annoying. I'm sure there's a setting for that, but I never found it. Then I started wondering if it was really doing anything at all using all these "cleaners".

Finally, I've just decided that Windows actually has many of these tools built in and there's no need for an extra piece of software to do every little thing, so I got rid of it. Yay, no more annoying daily notifications!

Ava, uncheck the box to "check for software updates automatically", it is in the "overview" window of the program. If you want it to check for software updates let it and then click on "customize" for each software program it lists, to either update or to quit being shown to need updating, you can also turn off the "start with Windows" setting and just use the program on demand, as I do.

Interesting,
I just hit the positive button above and automatically it’s started the ratings at 100% good.

Yes it is an excellent PC maintenance program to keep your computer running at its best and very easy to use......

BUT.... Be careful what you check to set what you would like, because you may end up having to restore your computer to an earlier date OR at worst reinstall Windows.

All well and good if you’re an intermediate user or better.... BUT .. if in doubt, never be afraid to ask questions!

If the program is used with the default settings for a home based computer, there should not be any issues. If for example you wish to retain error messages for problem software, it is easy to uncheck this item.

I speak highly about this program as I have used it for many years... using the pro version AND the free version software, which is not much difference between the two.

Best of luck to others , though please direct technical questions to the vendor or the GOTD forum after expiry of this free offer!
