Some time ago GOTD had a very nice software (control panel type of thing) that replicated "Safely Remove Hardware / Eject media" functionality that is built-in to Windows, but did it much better. I have now replaced a computer, and want to buy the software so I can install it on the new machine, but can't for the life of me remember what it was called. Does anyone recollect that particular giveaway? The only thing I remember was that the company had some great plans to do much more with the software, which I didn't like or need.
My new PC has Windows 7 64-bit installed and unlike in Win XP, when you use "Safely Remove Hardware" on SATA hard-drive (hot-swap), Windows doesn't power the drive down, so it continues spinning. I think the software that I am trying to find offers a setting that also powers-down the drive.
I got really used to that software, it consistently worked really well. When I got it from GOTD I thought I would never pay for something like this since Windows has it built-in already, but now I really want it back.
Also, is there any scrollable directory of past giveways that I could use to find this software? I think if I saw the name or perhaps a screenshot, I would recognize it.
Thanks in advance!
