   I DL and installed Inpaint as per readme.txt and was sucessful..I understand that after install I can delete the setup.exe and the .gcd file,,,BUT what about the file "activation.exe".Can I now delete that one as well or must it stay in the folder...

   You can delete it after you run it once. I imagine you need to run it before you delete activation.gcd. So basically you install Inpaint then run activate.exe to activate it. After that you don't need the original zip or any of it's contents.
