As the years are increasing I am getting more forgetful. Someone suggested a Password Manager. Has anybody used one, is it safe, how easy to use and is there one that's the best?
Thanks

I had a password manager and liked it..it was free and I got it from here, I believe.
I then got a new computer and lost the file..oh well!
If you have firefox, it has a dandy password manager...
Or else there are other free ones, I am sure...
I'd not recommend the Firefox built in password manager - it is too easy (for anyone at your PC) to display all the passwords on screen (while convenient - it isn't very secure).
Also the passwords are then limited for use within Firefox.
A short while ago, there was given away a password manager called "Sticky Password" that I have used for many years. (There has since been a new major release - version 5).
It's convenient because it works with all browsers, and even lots of non-browser programs - such as your email, instant messenger programs, and lots of others.
It's secure - as the entire password database is encrypted and protected by a single password (that you must remember) - to unlock ALL of your passwords.
It is easy to use - because it recognises which sites you are on or which programs you are running - and suggests or provides only the passwords for that site or program.

There are many other free solutions available - but to date I've not found one that doesn't have some shortcomings that make it not right for me.

You might find some ideas about other password programs there.
** One note about passwords - good password programs let you generate random passwords for each site. There is no need to remember passwords in your head when you have a password manager.
Do NOT make the mistake of using the same password for all your websites, forums, memberships etc. Although uncommon - sites do get hacked and passwords get into the hands of criminals. Imagine if you had a master key to unlock everything of value in your life - and you lost it. You would have to go around and change every lock.
Having random passwords on every site and account not only makes the "key/lock" usable only on that one site - but it also makes passwords harder to remember if someone saw your password list - plain words are easy to them to remember - a password of Gi5HYag2UJ is almost impossible to remember.
Hi Carol
I have used the free version of Access Manager for years and it has been totally reliable and stable at all times.

Password Manager does all this, at this time I have 209 passwords stored with it for many different uses, not just web sites. Give it a try, you won't regret it :-)
EDIT Nearly forgot, if you give it the url you want to start at, you can open PM and click on a button to launch your default browser and it will take you right there.
