It is a shame that people that only visit GOTD's download page do not check for comments and tips in the forums. Today's download, Driver Magician, is an extremely poor performer it does not do any of the things that it claims to do and the program un-registers itself shortly after the download and registration date.
After having bad experiences with Driver Magician A few years ago I have played with the program a couple of times via a sandbox, on a computer that I used just for investigating programs that do not operate well. My original bad experiences included backing up the drivers on a computer and then attempting to reinstall them shortly after the program was downloaded from GOTD. That did not work. Trying to do the same thing at a later date I found that the program had unregistered itself. I was not alone in making these discoveries.
I have tried two versions of Driver Magician on the trial computer since my original bad experience. I think that actually I tried three times in all after the original fiasco. I know the first time that I tried to use it, it had unregistered itself before I had a chance to test it. The last installation was a full-blown test. It seems that I had one trial that I quit fooling with early on because the program's performance was the same old thing - nothing worked as advertised.
I did not try today's download and will never try another one. Two very long comments on the download page are filled with errors. I am suspicious of the origin of these two comments as well as others because their claims are false. Today's post is a lament and a warning. I did not try to detail my previous experiences. I posted details of some of those experiences previously in the forums.
For programs offered by GOTD that I have had an interest in trying, I have been checking the forum before making the leap to download and install.
