Today, instead of reviewing two games...I'm going to review two authors :P The first one is called Piste Games, but his central (and I think only worthwhile) game is called Pekka Kana. Second author is Virtanen (who created The Manipulator, which has been reviewed multiple times).
Pekka Kana is a platformer that was made way back in 1998 (you will need DOSBox), and then a second version came out in 2003 (A third is planned). You play as a duck...and try to get to the end of the level. Gameplay is pretty much the same as Mario, but there are some pretty fun level designs.
As a side note, I was unable to run the second version on Win7 without running compatibility mode. I don't know about Vista. If it doesn't work, maybe you should make the switch up or down! XD

There are a few other games on the website (Q-Lat is fun for a bit IMO), but you can try those out on your own :P

Finally, onto Virtanen. He has many quality games (most of them short, but still quality), but I'm only going to review my favorites (besides The Manipulator).
First is Virtual Silence. The story starts with an experimental surgery by hooking up the brain to a virtual reality. The player can then either change the color of the background (to green, red, or blue), and shoot little white pellets. Puzzles then emerge from there.
Secondly is Seven Minutes. Its a game where you are given 7 minutes to finish the entire game, while somebody is constantly telling you that it isn't possible...and almost every level appears that way. (Expect a lot of disappearing squares, attacking spikes, and other surprises).
Next game is Pingwin. Its a top down platformer, where you try to...do everything that you do in every other platformer :P Jump platforms, collect items and lives, and beath the timer. It actually has some fun levels, so I posted it here.
Kaipuu is a finnish word called Longing. Its a exploritory platformer, but is one of my favorites, because the story and wording is done so well. It reminds me a lot of The Company of Myself (a flash game). It has graphics that reminds me of Knytt Stories.
Snowball is another platformer where you play...as a snowball! Surprise! While the the gameplay isn't that...innovative, it has a lot of secrets, and "Extras", that makes it fun (Its not as small as some of the others though, it has a decent level size). Its not a very ...big (window size) game, so its a good game to use up those spare 5 minutes :P
Finally, the last game I am going to review is called Painajainen. Its also another Finnish word, but it means nightmare. Its about a boy who gets trapped in his dream, and it also has a very good story (although, not as good as Kaipuu IMO). However, this is much more of a puzzle platformer than Kaipuu, and less exploratory (although there is quite a bit of exploration).

P.S. All of these games can also be downloaded from http://www.yoyogames.com, but I don't like the organization as much. There is also 2 more pages of games, but I only tried a few of them, and didn't really like them.
