   Hello:

   I know this has been discussed before, but I cannot get a suggestion that works; the discussion also suggests yelling loudly if nothing works. So, here goes:

   I am using Win 7 Home Edition, 64-bit. I use Comodo. In the past, with Win XP, everything worked properly; now, despite many tries, always the same answer:

   Failed to Connect. Please try again later.

   After executing the setup program, Comodo notes the attempt to use the Internet, as always. I give permission, as always. This occurs two ot three times, then the dreaded message!

   I have looked through Comodo's logs and can find nothing mentioned. I have changed settings to nl avail. Someone mentioned IE: What does the browser have to do with activation? I do have IE (64-bit) installed but I only use it as a last resort. But I do not see what it has to do with activation.

   I would appreciate some suggestions I haven't already read.

   Hi Sparky, I also use Comodo (but on Win 7, 32-bit OS). Unfortunatley, Comodo has a bad habit of interfering with attempted GOTD downloads, so I simply exit Comodo completely, retry the download, and it works. The key word is "exit completely."

   IE is needed for the activation process, that doesn't mean, that you have to browse or download with IE, but IE may not be in "offline" mode. (Let's hope someone more tech-savvy than I can explain better WHY). It happened sometimes, that after a MS patch I had to re-change the IE options.
   Sometimes you even have to activate with higher rights: ask the "right-click-administrator" for help.
   I don't know Comodo, I gave my Kaspersky firewall a rule for GOTD and now it doesn't even ask any more for permission.

   Try disabling Comodo for a moment while running the wrapper. I don't think you can apply a blanket rule to allow Setup.exe and Activate.exe (it wouldn't be safe, anyways). Disable completely that Defense+ or whatever it's called, because it acts like a kid on many cans of Red Bull blocking your programs.

   Check your proxy settings and the "work offline" setting as well.

   Comodo work 100% OK with GOTD, have a look in Advanced,On the task bar Try the top 2 on popup to Training mode,don't for get to go back to safe mode.

   Hello, all:

   Still no joy! I continue to try everything I can think of! I have turned off both Windows firewall and Comodo firewall but with no help. It would seem that the activation tries to contact GAOTD but never gets an answer. Thus, it asks at least twice (sometimes three times) but never gets a reply.

   I hope someone can help because I cannot get any of the GAOTD to work!

   No Comodo. Tried IE. Still no go; about a week now. Makes the whole effort useless and likewise the software. Is this a router / NAT issue? No messages from AVG. WTF?

   this long-ago thread may be hard to follow in places...the community member asked for download help, but the problem seemed to be activation...please try to sort thru it for possible solutions:

   thanks for the response. Still no joy. I'm still concerned that it may be
   a firewall / NAT issue, and I really don't like opening up holes in the FW.
   But if that is what it takes... Nothing else works, and it is TRULY an activation
   problem.

   This just changes perhaps a week ago - up 'til then, I had successfully installed a few programs. Something changed, and it wasn't my doing..

    Hello:

    Back again - still no joy! I think there is a misunderstand about where in the installation process my problem lies.

    I can download the (usually) zip files just fine! That is the part that may or may not involve a browser. Once that is done and the executable file (usually Setup.exe) is extracted from the zip file, it must be executed - no browser involved. Once executed, Setup.exe attempts to use the internet, Comodo asks permission for Setup.exe to use the internet and I tell it OK. Setup.exe waits for awhile (obviously waiting for a reply); when none comes, Setup.exe again tries to use the internet, Comodo again asks permission, I give it, Setup.exe waits, and then fails with the failure to connect message.

    So, it would seem one of these is happening:

    1. The message that Setup.exe tries to send out isn't getting out, despite my giving permission for Comodo to permit it.
    2. The way that Setup.exe is sending out its message is somehow conflicting with Win 7 Home Edition 64-bit OS or with Comodo.
    3. The GAOTD server is not recognizing the message from Setup.exe.
    4. Setup.exe is looking in the wrong place for the server's message or it is seeing this message incorrectly.
    5. Comodo is not allowing the response to get to Setup.exe.
    6. Something REALLY STRANGE is happening.

    I have checked all of Comodo's logs and nowhere is there an instance of a blocked message, incoming or outgoing, on any of the days that Setup.exe has failed.

    I do not know enough to troubleshoot this without help from GAOTD and so far they don't seem interested enough to even reply!

    I think it could be Comodo delivering the alert too late. That tends to happen to me with huge-sized giveaways (those GOTD people made it so that the entire encrypted giveaway setup file is loaded entirely in RAM, making my computer slow as semi-frozen maple syrup). When that happens, the firewall accepts outgoing connections while the wrapper times out.

    Say, it'd be helpful if you post some screenshots, with Comodo's traffic list open while trying to activate a giveaway.

    As for Ram 125 MB ,256 MB & 2000 MB RAM on XP sp3 Comodo ok no semi-frozen 150 MB file like Paragon I got #'s of times
