I've heard speculation of this for a week or two now, but seems that may be getting more serious. Infinity Ward maybe creating a Call of Duty MMO.
I can actually see this be pretty cool if its done right. They are suppose get Everquest and Blizzard involved on making it, so maybe it will be. I kind of picture a WOW world but with little soldiers running around leveling of course there would have to be more to it.

Following on from today's rumor that Infinity Ward is working on a secret project and can't commit to Modern Warfare 3, some more gossip has found its way into our ears that might shed a little more light on the situation. According to our industry sources, Infinity Ward's new game will be an MMO.We've gotten word that IW is hiring people from Sony Online Entertainment, one of which may be the lead designer of EverQuest II, and that a member of Blizzard employees may also be involved to help Infinity Ward get this new title off the ground. Our Intel seems to indicate that Call of Duty will continue as an annual franchise while IW runs this MMO alongside it.
It's not yet known if this MMO is based in the Call of Duty universe, although word of a CoD MMO has been floating around for a very long time. In any case, this is nothing but speculation at the moment, thought it's very interesting speculation indeed.
Here's an older post about it.

You'd think with Activision acquiring Blizzard that this idea would have cropped up sooner, but better late than never. It's quite possible that Activision may have some inclination to produce a Call of Duty MMO, if the Activision head's latest comments on the franchise are anything to take out of context."...when you think about other properties that we own and control, like Call of Duty, and what would be the natural evolution of a property like Call of Duty into a massively multiplayer environment, and how do you monetize that," stated Bobby Kotick at the Morgan Stanley Technical Conference.
Of course, he's talking in pure hypothesis for the moment, but it's an interesting idea, especially with the surge of popularity that the series has enjoyed with Modern Warfare. If it took the modern-day setting as opposed to WWII, a CoD MMO could have a lot of potential for fun. That said, playing as Nazis in an MMO would be great for the bad-taste hilarity that would surely occur.
Do you think this would ever happen, and if so, how successful would it be? Can you see Blizzard influencing Activision's properties in the future?
