Hi Michelle,
Where did you find the coupon code? Thanks
W.R.
http://www.retailmenot.com/view/bigfishgames.com
It's a couple of screens down. It's the newest one, but not sorting that way for some reason.
Thanks, Michelle.
Thanks, Michelle. I was able to find the code and "purchased" it.
I googled to find the key but it was where Delilah said it was.
Thanks, got it. :)
Question for you White. Why are the coupon codes being deleted? Thanks. To answer your question I found the coupon on Raymond's forum. I do not know if I can put a link to that here without that being deleted too. Lol, soon they are going to delete me. I don't understand some things here, it is confusing.
Forget it: Got the private message from one of the moderators. Administator Bubby please don't ban me or any other administators.
Michelle, just make yourself familiar with Rules For These Forums and Effective Forum Use.
I think what BuBBy wrote is easy to understand.
And you are right, that blog you mentioned is not clean; it's a mishmash with warez and some legal links and reviews. Users may download from where they like, but as GOTD distances itself from warez and piracy such sources shouldn't be posted here. I'm sorry when my PM to you was difficult to understand, English isn't my first language.

It was not hard to understand. English is my first language and my only language, but I sometimes think people that are from a different country speak is better than I do.
Another free game https://store.bigfishgames.com/biz_dev/coupon.php?affiliate=toolbarpromo&src=toolbar2enpromo (that should be acceptable)
Sorry, I am speaking about sPam not sCam - though some of the blogs are not so far away from scam.
Oh I see now what you are are saying. You are saying I need to spread my free promotions links around and stop advertising for one or two companies? I try to post all the good promos. You may have got some of them too. That is why I post them. I do not post them to spam the board with one or two companies advertisements, but lately there really hasn't been any good promotions and since I am interested in casual games that is why I post them. I see many here are interested in getting games wether it be from gamehouse, popcap, sandlotgames. They don't care as long as it is free.
And the reason I post for gamehouse a lot is not because I am with them and have gamepass and want you to get it too. It is simply because they have a free promotion a day with advertisements. Kind of like GOTD has a program a day Gamehouse has a game a day (with advertisements) but still worth it if you don't have money.
I thought GOTD was about that.
http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/ (it would be kind of cool if GOTD could post the next day's giveaway. Then we all would be talking about that especially if it is something good)
No, please read my PM again, your legal links to free games are always welcome.
And it has nothing to do that you post links from mostly 2 sources, just the umpteenth repetition of praising one of the sites could be seen as spam.
And no, I don't download from gamehouse. I don't want adware and as little DRM as possible on my system.

addendum:
By the way, GOTD/GGOTD is not a charity performance. It's a business concept to promote new software and (mostly) small-scale companies. The games and programmes are not freeware.
"And no, I don't download from gamehouse. I don't want adware and as little DRM as possible on my system."
But gamehouse games do not contain spyware neither does Bigfish or any of the other game sites that I post. If you buy a game off gamehouse or another site that game becomes a full version once you buy it. When you buy a game it is your's to keep forever. You own that game, it is your's and it doesn't contain spyware/adware. The only thing that does contain that is the game giveaway of the day. I don't think it tracks you, but you do have to watch ads in it.

I never posted a charity site link either. I fully support gamehouse and have gamepass (and so far this month alone I have bought 3 games off them alone not even counting gamepass), but some people don't have money and cannot do this. Companies like gamehouse see that. That is why they have the free game of the day (for people who don't have money or people who would rather watch ads). You can play many new games that way too. Games you may not even knew existed. From companies that you never heard of that make a game. Gamehouse makes some games (I just got the new Collapse off them) I heard they make that, but they do not make all the games. So in a way they are helping other companies too by having that free game of the day.
It works out good for you and good for them. You can play a full free version of a game with advertisements every once and a while and they are getting paid too. It works out good for everyone.
I think Giveawayoftheday does have some good programs on here, but I really wonder if people will buy any of the programs that GOTD has to offer from the companies. I think maybe some, but I don't think many if any really buy any of them. I really would be interested to know how successful GOTD has been in helping small companies. (I think ad versions would attract more customers like Gamehouse does with their games). This way everyone is getting paid.
Of course this is only my opinion.
Thanks Michelle for the head's up on Hidden Wonders. It's the first time I've seen it offered for free. It looks like it's from one of BFG's Twitter promos.
And just for the record, I have learned about and purchased from software companies that GOTD and GGOTD have featured, many thanks to the team here as well. :)
Thanks Michelle.
Many thanks, Michelle.
Gamehouse does attempt to gather information via some of their free games. My firewall gives me an alert and I deny it and continue to play the game.
What exactly is warez?
I got it, Michelle. Thanks for posting it. :)
Sue
Warez is another name for pirated software.
When you get a key or key-generator or a cracked version - with other words: illegal.
Take a look at the WOT ratings for gamehouse. Click that green circle and check the info (I don't know how it is called on the English version, I think "scorecard")
http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/gamehouse.com
There you see, that there are some warnings of users who seem to know what they are speaking about. They have linked to commentaries for their ratings.
It's hard to understand (at least for me), the comments are mostly for pros, but you get a picture. And then try to read the fine-print of gamehouse, that was enough for me to decide not to download or buy there. Of course they gather information about their users, not only with their adware games. Somewhere in an older thread you'll find our discussion about this topic.
That doesn't mean that gamehouse is illegal, well, it's a closed book for a layperson . Digital rights management seems to be legal (unfortunately) but very controversial.

If my firewall is denying them access doesn't that mean they can not collect any data from my computer?
I wouldn't worry about gamehouse collecting user information from your computer Terri. I have used gamehouse (well not for long) not nice Real put us there, but I have used Real for a couple years. I bought my first game off Real in 2007, but before then I got free games off them. They are good and if they do collect any information about your computer it is anonymous. I never had a problem with Real (well the only thing I don't like they do is authorization charges (money on hold for like 3 days), but other than that I have no problems with them.
And if they collect user information it would be pretty hard to collect information when you don't have internet access. I had a bunch of free games from Real and my mom cut the internet access the other year on me but I could still play the games.
You can play your games offline.
Lady Gray, the thread starts here Then, comments are peppered through it. I totally agree with you.
They would have to PAY ME to download any game from Big Fish, Real/Gamehouse. You may not be connected WHEN you play but what is happening when you are.
I don't even buy Sony any more because of the rootkits. If I have the need, I rip the DVD/CD and get rid of the DRM and use the copied media.
...............EDIT.......................
I use EULAlyzer. http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/eulalyzer.html It is made by the same people that make Spyware Blaster. Just copy and paste the EULA into the program.
thanks Michelle for the info about hidden wonders!
:)
Hi Michelle,
Thanks for the heads up about the free Big Fish game.
I'm going to take a crack at what I think the admins mean in their warnings to you and others. Understand that I am not an admin nor am I linked with GOTD or have authority to speak on their behalf. However I do read most comments on a daily basis so I've picked up things along the way as well as from other sites I visit regularly, Raymond's being one of them.
First and foremost, it is NOT Acceptable to post codes of ANY KIND, be they registration or coupon and so on.
Secondly, it is not acceptable to link to sites that contain warez or that may damage your computer simple by visiting them or have a bad reputation and so on. Usually but not always, acceptable sites are those that are trustworthy to WOT (Web of Trust) or MacAfee's Site Advisor.
Note that I mentioned warez in the previous paragraph. Warez (note the Z) are generally those that contain downloads of or "cracks" of commercial or shareware software. "Cracks" are key generators for a specific software or software that has had the licensing portions removed such that you can use the software freely. As often as not on these sites their downloads contain something, virus or otherwise, that will do significant harm to your computer. At the very best, WAREZ sites contain illegal versions of software. Consequently these are sites that most people should stay away from.
This is where Raymond's runs afoul of GOTD rules. There are many instances of Raymond's having been the source of links to the warez sites. I believe that this is why GOTD has a problem with posting links to Raymond's site. Also, many of the freebies do not refer you to the original site posting the freebie. If a site does not provide attribution many other sites consider that site disreputable. That's why GOTD considers links to Raymond's site suspicious. You can mention Raymond's in your posts, you just can't post links to Raymond's.
I hope this helps you. Again, please remember that I am NOT an admin, nor do I have authority to speak on GOTD's behalf. I am just posting what I believe your troubles may have been.
Take care and have a good day.
