These forums have shown some interest in the Glarysoft giveaway, often pointing to interesting upcoming giveaways. These pointers have always been links to the Glarysoft site. I'm wondering if anyone has noticed lately that the site has an additional link on their daily page which talks about the giveaway here with a notation:
Offer by giveawayoftheday.com
If you click the Download Now button, it takes you to another page on the Glarysoft site. Today, the link is
http://giveaway.glarysoft.com/phototofilmv3.0-341/
The Download Now button leads to this:
http://files.giveawayoftheday.com/PhotoToFilmv30.zip
Under that button is a note:
To get free notification of giveaway on your desktop, download Glarysoft Giveaway.
So here's my question: Isn't this at all upsetting? I always thought this was like stealing clicks or something. I'm sure I've seen moderators here deleting links because they lead to the download instead of the download page because this is...I don't remember...bad form? dishonourable? something of the sort.
Ahh, here it is: No direct linking (to executables or images etc) - many sites consider "direct linking" as bandwidth theft.
Rules For These Forums
Hotlinking is Bandwidth Theft
What makes this case different, please?
