   For those who buy consoles it looks to be a great holiday season, with 2 major brands competing for their money. I saw MS has their replacement for the old Xbox, so I'm wondering if Sony has some sort of refresh planned too?

   I'm hoping that we'll see loads of PS3's and X-Box 360's for sale on E-bay for knock down prices. I've never wanted a console having always been happy playing PC games, but there are several titles from both X-Box and PS3 that have never been released on PC which I'd really love to play.

   I remember when the 360 annd PS3 were released you could pick up the previous models for virtually nothing. I'll be checking out E-Bay over the period just before they go on sale and afterwards. :)

   Besides, my son has expressed a want for one of them. He said he doesn't really care; either an X-Box 360 or a PS3. I think I'd go with the PS3 simply because it can play Blu-Ray discs. My son would like to watch some of our Blu Ray collection in his bedroom; (especially The Hobbit, which is fabulous on Blu-Ray. Not only do you get an amazing picture quality, you get loads of extra's). The PS3 would enable him to do that. He says he's a dedicated PC gamer, but he feels like me that there are some games not on PC that it would be worth getting one of the consoles, especially if we can get them cheap.

   You can already get consoles on ebay for cheap. I got my 360 on ebay a few years back for a little over 100. It was new in box but old model (The early white one) I guess was just sitting in a warehouse for years. Still works fine today even though I do worry because that model is known for the red ring of death. But yes I also hope some of the newer 360s will be for sale cheap because I would like to get a newer one before mine does break eventually.

   My grandson's copy of Black ops 2. suffered a red ring of death on a fairly recent model of xbox. I paid full retail (Black Ops 2) again and a few weeks later it dropped $20 ? He returned it to Gamestop and they just smiled and said it was a fairly common experience. It did get a lot of use but so far his brother's is still going strong with his copy of Black Ops2. Used copies of Black Ops 2 were $55 at the time. Only one casualty in this red ring of death war story is just minimum collateral damage I suppose. Pun intended. (:)

   As this new version is available now, last month's stock on store shelves is obsolete. Between that & what I'd expect are slower sales anyway with the Xbox One slated for the holidays, that old inventory should be on sale at some retailers now, & working its way back to distribution centers for some retail chains where it might be bought up by companies who'll move it on ebay.
