Of course this won't be an exhaustive analysis but for long time I wanted to do such a thing based on one of must re-ran software for all GOTD life, 'LeaderTask'.
I invite users who eventually happen to like such things to do similar comparisons against other frequently software seen here.
Yes, I'm aware the validity of user voting method may be questionable, but I find it interesting when it comes to 'raw popularity' analysis - which is what I'm measuring here, anyway.
*In any way this is meant to discourage software developers*, what I'm trying to prove here is: if you listen to your customers, results will come (I did the whole thing trying to convince another software developer to promote better support/development for a product which I believe has appeal - yes, they are among GOTD publishers!).
Of course there may be several points I may be missing here considering added features and such. It's a start, anyway.

(see? It's the 'company' version - $79.95, yet the previous price tag was incredible $119.95 - but there were no real update after almost two years!, as comment 2 tells: 'LeaderTask was last given out on January 23, 2009. The version then was 6.1. Today’s is also 6.1.')

(april, ie, not the usual 1st-month-of-the-year-reruns which usually get such poorer ratings!)
(the price tag dropped again to $34.95, but the same trick didn't worked this time)

(note that it's the COMPANY version, raised 2% from previous run probably due to comment #3, '#1 to make outlook work like LeaderTask in a network, you have to setup a microsoft server which means cost > 1000$ and may reach many thousands depending on features and number of PCs.')

(they FINALLY added Android sync, see comment #3 ('I was SO happy when I saw the Android-sync option.') versus the Idea Informer 2nd best voted idea, 'Develop versions for mobile (android, ios, etc.) version and allow sync via wi-fi'.
(Also, they FINALLY dropped the childish-long-time-hated look from previous build [http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/LeaderTask-Organizer-software_resize.jpg] - now looking like [http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/main_stdsize2_eng_250.jpg]
(conclusion: in 14 runs, the first time they got a better rating was when they added user-demanded features, except price lowering or advertising against draconian pricing. It's not a coincidence.)
