I don't use it very often, but when I tried to use it a little while ago there was a message that "We've changed our registration process and you need to update the program to continue." The program would always show that message, so you have no option but to update. And... once you update, you now own a trial version. So, you think you're being given a no support, no update but working program, when actually its just a different way of providing a time limited trial.
Did anyone else lose access to WinX DVD Ripper Platinum?

Still works here - 6.9.2.0 9/17/2012 - but could be if it phoned home for directions on whatever disc that's what triggered it... could be too that it won't work on that disc without updating the app itself? The 2 big names in bypassing DVD/BD DRM so you can back up the discs you've bought are DVDFab & AnyDVD, & both are constantly updating their apps -- not just the instructions the apps get from phoning home. Both have trials that'll let you get your DVD on your hard drive, & then use any converter on that DRM-free copy.

Today's GOTD is Aiseesoft DVD Copy -- I'll keep it just for the reason stated in the last post -- since these apps can't be updated I feel that there's a good chance they won't work on future DVDs with newer DRM. That DRM's always evolving -- there's always something new right around the corner -- so whatever methods of DRM an app can handle today are sort of irrelevant... I'm more concerned with backing up the DVD(s)/Blu-Ray discs I'll buy next month, & if I'll need to hunt up a different app to handle it.
