Try using a different archiver such as the freeware 7Zip.
I had a similar issue with winrar some time ago. So used 7 Zip, which solved the problem.

The solution is to not run setup.exe from inside the zip file. Best results - extract the zip file contents into a new & empty folder, and THEN run the setup file from a normal folder location.
Running a Setup.exe from inside a zip file sometimes works but there are a lot of factors that can cause it to break.
Programs don't actually run from inside the zip file - but are extracted to the TEMP folder - and lots of setup programs extract intermediate files required during setup - to the TEMP folder... and you can end up with a file being "in use by another application"

EVERY time I try and run set-up from software from this site, I get 'the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process' error message.
I use 7Zip as advised and unzip to empty folders but I get this error message for everything I download from giveawayoftheday.
This is a great site with loads of software I'm interested in but nothing will run - help!Posted 14 years ago # -
It migth help if we knew more about the programs you're running on your computer.
If BuBBy's solution didn't help, you must have another process or service that interferes. Now that can be loads of the things.
Next thing to look for:
Most brands come up with their own media manager, indexing new files for faster access(f.i. if you're using a Dell that would be "Dell Media Mangager").
Disabling might help.
A lotta multimedia programs do the same thing.Nero for one has a service called 'Home'.Another possibility could be you're using a separate security program next to your antivirus/firewall or even.. a badly configured firewall...a lousy antivirus...

thanks to administrator and others, but both successions: extracting in an empty folder or opening with 7zip did not help (as stated above by joebart333
too)
my system is vista 64 home premium, IE8, F-secure (no separate security programms next to it) and no extra media manager beside MS'Posted 14 years ago # -
Running unlocker you might be able to find out which other process had the file in use.
Knowing the filename that is in use - and what is using the file, would go a long way to solving the problem.

I'd suggest re associating Winrar with ".zip" files.
Go to options-settings-integration in your Winrar menu.
(or/and use the "open with" option you get when right clicking on a zip )_______________

Take control of your computer now with "What's Running 2.2" If that doesn't help you troubleshoot the problem you're having...throw your PC out the window and take up knitting....lol
