Hi, Merri... yes, it is an excellent one. And reminders are always welcome, especially when there's a good one you shouldn't miss. :)

hi Midori!!
Yes I knew that you would have this marked..lol.
Or have you already played it??
It LOOKS excellent!
I am waiting for them to bring back the Nancy Drew Castle Malloy one..I had it but it disappeared one day when I was housecleaning the computer..lol.
Luckily I saved the "saved games" so when (if) it is offered again I can carry on (I was about half way through..)

Hi, Merri... yes, I've played it. Good one with puzzles to solve. Oh darn! A shame you lost Castle Malloy! I have it in my "Play Soon" folder. Had just played several Nancy Drews, and you need a break between them! I'll remember to tell you if I see Malloy as a freebie anywhere.
Posted 15 years ago # -
Can't wait!!
Yes you do need a break between them!
Oh thanks!

Merri, after seeing your post about losing Nancy Drew Castle Malloy I thought I'd check on my machine and it seems that mine has gone too!. There's still a folder bearing its name but that is completely empty. Makes me wonder if Gamehouse has done some housecleaning of its own...

Now that is odd, you two... I just checked and still have mine, but I did direct it to download into a folder other than what their "default" folder is...

Is this just a 1 hour demo version or the full version?
Posted 15 years ago # -
I just downloaded from that link.. and it's a 1 hour version.
Then went to gamehouse.com - downloaded it there, and clicked on installer and keep getting pop up box saying must be connected to internet.. I AM connected. So there seems to be some kind of problem!Posted 15 years ago # -
EEK sorry andirhue..
That link was just for the INFO..The DOWNLOAD link is at Gamehouse today.
Copmom..did you get it downloaded ok??
Mine is downloading now..I had no problem with pop up boxes.SpodoCommodo and Midori..that is odd..so it wasn't just my computer!?
:(Midori, I have wised up since this has happened a few times and now save it to my other hard drive.
I just installed the game and all is well(I have to go to work but can't wait to play it!) but I was intrigued to note that they (Gamehouse) whisked away the installation file from my desktop(something they never did before)

I got a fast pc but this 'game' sits at loading screens for 10 min
and once loaded, it's super slow and boring, imo.Posted 15 years ago # -
I mostly agree with Buzz.
It does take a long time for loading the scenes; and also I am not a fan of games where you have no choice but to retrace your steps e.g. in this, you can see keys lying about in the current room but can't action them and so have to leave them where they are, and then a few rooms further on you're given a task that requires you to go back and get them since they can now be picked up.

I need a little help with downloading todays game. When I go to download it gives me a box to open or save. No matter what I do it doesn't want to download. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have WINXP home and have cleaned cookies, temp files and have checked for viruses.

Hi, sassyladypib... are you registered and logged in there? Just checking, as you do have to have an "account" (which is free) to download the free games. I get a box that just gives me the option to Save the file, which I do to my desktop, then I install from there.
Buzz and Spodo... I forgot about those loading screens... they are a tad annoying but I got over it, lol. But I do think the game is worth playing, so hope Merri isn't disappointed.

The game downloaded okay. I was pleased to see a window enabling me to install the games to where I wanted them to go as opposed to a Gamehouse folder on the C: drive; which is where previous Gamehouse games have installed themselves to. Installation took slightly longer than usual, but it 'was' a bigger than most games I’ve downloaded from this free scheme. The time from clicking on the Gamehouse link to starting the game up for the first time was just under four minutes. It then took 15 seconds for the first scene to load. I found several dialogues cut off before they finished which was a little annoying as it meant I had to read them instead - lol. The second load screen took a minute, which was also a little annoying as I wanted to start playing the game; then the second ad kicked in. I didn't play much beyond trying to scare the guard with the shadow of Horus. The game was too slow for me,; however, I do love Egyptian lore so will continue to play this game to see if it improves. :) Overall, te graphics were good.

Midori, I am loving it!!!!
I just got home and am already engrossed.
I love the graphics(have remarked how very lifelike the characters are; including amazing eyes..which even in games like Syberia were not noteworthy)
I like games like this which are classic point and click more than HO's (IMHO)
The back tracking might be frustrating but again it is a CLASSIC method in the point and click type of game(amongst the ones I have played anyway)
It is also close to the Nancy Drew types(which also have one trotting back and forth..lol)

You can find several excellent point and click adventures in the games synopsis. None are up to the standard of this game with respect to graphics, but for game play they are as good in my opinion, though I've only progressed a short way through this offering.
You may like the indie games called On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One & Two. I've only got the second episode yet, but will be buying the first one eventually. They are brilliant point and click adventures.( Though I've only seen video footage of the first one).

Thank you Midori. Yes I am registered and I found my problem. I had to uninstall the realarcade games and program and then i was able to download it with no problem. Oh well I can get them back if i really want to play them for the 5th time. I think I will just keep it off so I can download the Gamehouse games again. I had to redo my computer a couple of months ago and lost all the other games from Gamehouse, so I am starting fresh again. Again thanks for the help.

Thanks W Rabbit!
I have checked some out and also rely on a site called "lazylaces"
http://www.lazylaces.com/
The games are pretty much all point and click games that he and his readers have found around the web.
(Almost all free too...)
:)
I have just gotten to a ,"simon says", puzzle part of this game( my worst puzzle...it was the reason I couldn't finish Dream Chronicals 2..that darned chess game which was also a sort of simon says game..

Merri, I also am stuck at the chess game on Dream Chronicles 2...such a good game too, they should have added a "skip" button. Am playing Annabel now and enjoying it.
Posted 15 years ago # -
WR..you are most welcome!
(Gosh it's game heaven around here...lol)
:)Posted 15 years ago # -
BakerBob..YES, a skip button would be so appreciated.
SO many folks got bogged down at the chess game; it's too fast and frustrating.
Annabel is great!
:)Posted 15 years ago # -
Hiya, Merri. Glad to see you back! :D
Have you all thought about emailing them about the chess part of the game, or maybe posting it on the forums (I think they have a forum....gosh, right now my mind is so tired, I can't recall if they do or not)?
Sue - who was fixing to post about 4 Elements, here on this thread, but figures she should make a new thread for it...lol
Posted 15 years ago # -
Hi back at you Sue!! *waves*
:)
Thanks !!!!
I missed our little community here!
I have gone onto the forums at bigfish and found that MANY others were stuck at the same spot. It is the ONE thing that gets discussed endlessly, and so far some people have offered solutions(which mainly involve putting cling film onto ones monitor and SOMEHOW marking where the computer has "moved" the lights...
Yes an email might be a good idea(but as I didn't actually purchase the game, it might be better coming from someone who did...)
