Encryption keys stored in Apple's cloud are themselves encrypted, so no one at Apple could access them if they wanted to. Microsoft wants you to store BitLocker keys with your other account info on their servers, where people at Microsoft have access, and when asked, Microsoft will provide those keys to government agencies with a judicial order or warrant. That may or may not seem like a big deal to you. Personally, I don't trust every Microsoft employee, nor every one of their many contractors. And I've read of far too many corrupt &/or incompetent police officers &/or departments, while the feds don't always inspire trust. The free, open source VeraCrypt is a more flexible and much better alternative -- the only drawback is that no one but you has the keys, so Do Not lose them.
