I *suspect* that Microsoft made some changes to Win11's security &/or memory handling, since one OLD app, InstallWatch Pro, started crashing when it was taking a snapshot of the files & folders on the hard disk. And it happened at different parts of the scanning process on 2 different copies of Win11, though always at the same stage for each copy. I got around it by changing what was scanned, specifying folders instead of the entire hard disk. At any rate, just wanted to note that if anyone has an old app that's no longer working, it's not just you.
Meanwhile, another problem showed up with a copy of Win10. When Windows started it went through a series of full screen ads for Microsoft 365. After declining those Windows Update downloaded this month's patch, but if failed to complete installation. Tried again, and then twice running the .msu file with the update downloaded from the catalog. Everything failed. Luckily this was a VM, and I store the previous month's VHD [Virtual Hard Disk]. Using the VHD with Win10 & October's update, it first started the backup to OneDrive as if it hadn't already been done, then proceeded to install December's update without any problems.
