There's a decent chance IMHO that other manufacturers will follow suit, e.g., Lenovo, if they haven't already. Ars Technica went looking when they saw user complaints that folks weren't able to play videos, finding that in the fine print of the specs, hardware decoding had been turned off, most likely in the graphics drivers. Not all systems are effected -- on higher dollar rigs the hardware decoding apparently still works. If you get hit with this, graphics drivers direct from the GPU manufacturer will *probably* fix things.
