LibreOffice 25.8 is out now, but for me personally it's overkill. I only occasionally need one of the office apps nowadays, and then portable versions of OnlyOffice or VoleOffice *usually* suffice. But there's no denying that LibreOffice does more, so I like to have it available. Unfortunately it's a heavier install than I prefer. There's a portable apps version, but it's not updated that often, and it still requires a bit of setup on 1st use -- I run it in a VM to set it up, then store the 7zipped folder. So I came up with a way to use current versions of LibreOffice without the heavy hit from its normal installation. Note that it is however a slight PITA.
The way I did it was to install LibreOffice with only the options I wanted in a VM. The hard part is that it installs several files in Windows, and if you just copy the program's folder to another copy of Windows, there's a good chance it won't run. I solved that by using Uniextract on the LibreOffice .msi setup file. In this case it's just an easier way to use the command line prompts to extract everything in the .msi file. Do that and one of the folders is named System64. I copied the files in that folder into the LibreOffice\ Program\ folder, and so far in testing that works. SO I just 7zipped that LibreOffice folder for if/whenever I need it. Extracting that 7Zip file and running LibreOffice does add a folder to Users\ [UserName]\ AppData\ Roaming\, but no registry entries are added, so I have to delete 2 folders afterward. FWIW, even after going through the custom install options there were quite a few very small language related files in the LibreOffice folders. I went ahead and deleted most of the unneeded ones because USB sticks don't like lots of small files, and I might wind up running LibreOffice from a USB stick.
