This time it's a bit of a twist -- the author already uses Linux for work stuff, but for 30 years he's used Windows for gaming. Starting from scratch, installing the Bazzite Linux distro on new hardware, he chronicles his wins & losses.
It did take him some work, but I'm not sure how much extra compared to Windows, since I've read of hard core gamers sometimes going to great lengths to get the best experience. And I think it would have been more useful if he told us what he had to do in order to install things like the Heroic Games Launcher, or setting Wine to use Proton Experimental. For some Linux software it's as simple as getting an app from Windows Store, but for others you need a page full of instructions and commands using the terminal.
But I guess it could be worth it depending on what games you play and the hardware you're using. Linux is more efficient and less resource hungry, so on lower end hardware, like that in handhelds, games have been shown to run quite a bit better than on Windows. Move closer to the top end in hardware and comparisons haven't shown much difference at all.
