For better or worse 2FA [2 Factor Authentication] is a fact of life nowadays, and Microsoft's Authenticator is one popular solution. Authenticator's password mgr. only added to its popularity. Now it looks like Microsoft's decided that password mgr. made it Too popular, while folks continued to ignore Edge. SO they're basically killing Authenticator's password mgr. off and telling you to use Edge instead.
