Currently a giveaway at SOS. This is an old style Franzis app, with a few files added to the Users folder and everything else in the program's folder. As usual for these apps, it doesn't do the best job of handling a Windows display set at 150%. With several textures & templates it's also one of the larger projects apps at just under 1GB. Registration / activation is what you're used to -- sign in and get the key via email. The manual [PDF] & plugins are included.
Explaining Black & White projects is a bit difficult because the concept can be confusing. A standard photo captures a limited dynamic range, meaning the levels of brightness between pure black and pure white, compared to what we see with our eyes. [HDR photos improve on this, combining 2 or more lighter & darker photos.] Color photos or image files contain more data than black & white or grayscale images, though the dynamic range is the same. Converting a color photo to B&W in an editing app *usually* means just discarding the extra data with all of the color info, but Black & White projects gives you another option... it converts the color data into additional B&W/grayscale data. Now, the color data has no additional dynamic range or detail, so discarding that color data when converting to B&W is technically the correct procedure, but Black & White projects manipulates the color data, so it's usable as added detail &/or dynamic range. And that's why it has all the settings etc., so you can better control how it manipulates that data. Long story short, you get a better B&W image.
