Next year is uncertain... Trump may or may not increase the duties or tariffs on imports from China -- he talked about 60-100%, but some feel that was simply the 1st step in negotiations -- but there are already import duties on electronics from China, and the exemption for PC parts etc. is due to expire in the Spring. From retailers standpoint, AMD & Intel are both going to release new products early next year, as are PC & laptop manufacturers, so by early 2025 they need to have cleared room in their warehouses to store that new inventory. And finally, this is the time of year that retailers bank on to make the biggest share of their profits for the year, and consumer sales so far look like the numbers are going to disappoint.
That said, you have to be careful -- use an Amazon historical price browser plugin for example, e.g. Keepa, even if you're looking to buy whatever from somewhere else. Lots and lots of stuff on sale right now has been cheaper earlier in the year, but you can score some very decent deals if you're persistent and keep looking. I've seen [& in a few cases bought] stuff that was marked down 50%, or More.
I've seen just a few deals on PCs &/or laptops that were so good that sites like Windows Central wrote articles about them, but those were the exceptions. Otherwise there is a lot of reduced pricing, but often they approach price lows rather than set new records.
If you building or upgrading a PC, it's rare, but I've seen RAM for ~50% off. Newegg is also occasionally throwing in 32GB of free RAM when you buy something else, e.g., a motherboard or CPU. CPU & graphics card prices are often reduced, but generally not by much. I haven't seen any good deals on power supplies for the last month. Shorter, mini ATX motherboards are seeing Very good discounts, but not full size versions. I think most last generation motherboards have already been marked down for a while now, and most of the further discounts I've seen over the last week are on lesser quality boards with fewer features that have likely not sold well, so the retailers have excess inventory. That said, AMD's latest have been out for around 2 months now, and some of those have not sold well at all, sometimes because they were priced much higher than the competition. That too can mean excess inventory, and hopefully from a consumer point of view, greatly reduced sale pricing. When it comes to storage, there was an oversupply of SSDs so they were extremely cheap, so manufacturers cut production and prices started to rise. They're back down now, though prices are not as low as when they hit bottom, and they're most likely going up in price next year as manufacturers switch to producing RAM for AI, which is Extremely in demand. There have been quite a few Very good discounts on monitors, while discounts on other peripherals have been very mixed -- most of the prices I've seen on stuff like mice & keyboards is in line with earlier sales throughout the year. The same goes for printers, with the exception of 3 or 4 deals that were actually price lows.
Good Luck & Happy Shopping!
