The big disclaimer: it's unknown whether gaming leads to improvements in attention, impulse control, and memory, or if the 9 & 10 year olds in the study already had these traits & that's why they were attracted to gaming. With no differences measured in mental health, some companies are even exploring gaming as treatment for cognitive impairment.
My takeaway is that it's a fine excuse to get or allow kids gaming. ;)
