Some sites send a one time code to verify your identity, &/or to log in, and one time codes are often used for 2FA [2 Factor Authentication]. Sometimes the system clock on your PC/laptop can be used to derive a random number, while these one time codes usually expire after a short time. If the time on your PC/laptop is off, it can cause all of these to fail -- according to some developer notes I found, a system having the wrong time set is THE leading cause of OTP failure.
Background...
For ages Windows had what I consider a bug -- if you had more than one copy of Windows installed, e.g. my Insider copy of Win11, when EACH copy of Windows started after a Daylight Savings time change, Each would change the time, REGARDLESS the time that was set. For a Short while Microsoft fixed the problem, but in March 2022 it's back, meaning each copy of Windows moved the time ahead one hour.
