Skip it -- IMHO anyway...
There are things I like about Macrium Reflect Free, some things I like about Paragon's Hard Disk Mgr., and AOMEI's Backupper is probably a good app, but since AOMEI's bootable USB sticks don't work for me, I don't use that one -- just the other 2. Paragon's activation/registration for their free version of HDM 16 is a bit of a PITA, again IMHO, so I keep a copy of the setup files for maybe their last GOTD, Backup & Restore 15 Compact handy, which I can install on devices or in VMs as needed. B&R 15 won't work with HDM 16 backup archives, but HDM 16 will open &/or restore B&R 15 archives just fine. Macrium Reflect Free isn't difficult to install, & registration is optional, but setup is a little more time consuming because the setup app is a downloader, to get you the actual setup file.
Creating a bootable USB stick in Paragon HDM 16 is a breeze -- nothing to download unless you're trying to do something special. OTOH, if you are trying to do something out of the ordinary, I could not get HDM 16 to recognize the latest win10 ADK [Assessment and Deployment Kit] from Microsoft, which was installed. Macrium Reflect Free will download *part* of the ADK, and it will warn you about it 1st, which is cool, and it will delete everything from the ADK that it doesn't need. While I can use the USB sticks from both apps on everything we have, Macrium Reflect Free has the edge here -- the app on their USB stick is Much faster than Paragon's when it comes to backup & restore.
The help file for Ashampoo Backup 2018 tells you to download & install the Windows ADK, & while it's smaller than it used to be, you're still talking 3GB installed. I'd tell you more about the process, but I couldn't get Ashampoo Backup 2018 running again to try it... I turned off the background service the app uses, so I could make a backup of the installed files, & the app would no longer start. It should start the service itself, but I couldn't restart the service manually either. Yes, this was in a VM, which may be different that a regular Windows install, but none of the others, Paragon, Macrium, or AOMEI have any problems in the same VM.
Another thing I didn't like is Ashampoo Backup 2018 duplicates many of the user files/folders -- Users\ [UserName]\ -- in a protected folder, including a copy of the user registry hive. It also adds that hive to a Windows service in the registry. That may or may not cause any problems in the future, but it's adding complications that the alternatives I mentioned do not.
Finally, Ashampoo Backup 2018 adds copies of the Microsoft C/C++ runtimes, but in a less usual manner. Personally I don't like it when software adds yet another copy of the runtimes, but that's just something that sometimes ya gotta live with. But Ashampoo goes a little further adding multiple copies of the runtime setup files -- most software does not.
So, long story short, there are 2, maybe 3 good apps you can get for free, all mature products with proven track records. And you've got a new guy on the block, Ashampoo Backup 2018, that initially doesn't seem to compete with those three very well, and that's just from the installation. I see no reason to even give it a try.
