I am having an annoying and a frequent problem when I save files in Corel Draw 8.
The problem is that many a times I save a file, a cannot reopen either the original as well the backup file. I get a message - error reading .cdr file.
I use winXP as OS.

According to the Wiki, Corel Draw 8 was released in 1997 as is compatible with Windows 95 and Windows NT. Make sure that you're running it in the appropriate compatibility mode.
But, I think you'd be better off with Inkscape. It's a vector graphics program and will open cdr files; plus the the latest version is still compatible with Windows XP. Current freeware is probably vastly superior to 20 year-old pay-ware.

Chris, it's a spambot... (googling the message gives a few thousand identical hits of this post)
usually, it'll pop up in a bit and post the solution. which of course, costs.

@ Khai
Are you referring to the links Chris posted?
I don't see anything malicious. The links are OK.
Please scan your system for any hiccups.Posted 7 years ago # -
Khai, the original message may well be SPAM but there are a number of GOTD posters who are fervent XP users. Presumably, they've employed the registry hack to enable continued updates but those updates may also break existing software installations. So, I opted to give the poster the benefit of the doubt and assume that it's a legitimate post.
Besides, what logic is there in SPAM about 20 year-old software running on an obsolete OS? Oh, wait, I just checked the pantry and "logic" is not included in the ingredients for Spam...

Oh yes, I see.
We get every week at least one question mostly related to old outlook files.
I delete them as soon as I see them, but our filter don't "learn" to catch them. I guess in a few days someone will post a link as help.
I'll keep my eyes open.Posted 7 years ago # -
