Procrastination pays - the Amazon deal is down to $9.99 and you get free shipping if you sign up for the free trial express shipping service. So I went for it.

ARGGG!
Good for you though!
:)
LOL!
I have just emailed them asking for them to consider reimbursing me the difference betweeen what I paid and the price it is today.
It is only 5 dollars difference(as I paid 13.99) but I think that they should behave like any good store....Posted 14 years ago # -
Merri,
Amazon used to have a 30 day guarantee on the price dropping after shipping. You would have to notify them but they would credit you. They stopped that about 2 years ago. I've seen the price drop shortly after I order something. If my order hasn't started processing, I've been known to cancel and re-order to get the lower price. However, after the fact - not anymore! I don't think you'll get the $5 difference.
They do still have the pre-order price guarantee. I've had a pre-ordered item (DVD) go down only $.01 and have had my price reduced!

Let me know if it works in case they go down anymore. But it's like an auction. You pay whatever the current price is. BTW do the games play off the CD or do you still have to download them? (Somebody may have already answered that but I'm too lazy to read the whole thread again.)

Great early find Teri! I was just coming here to post about this deal! I snatched it up and got the free shipping too. I can't believe this CD is going to get any cheaper. It's a deal at the original price.
Merri, if the email doesn't work try calling their customer service 800#. I've had good luck dealing with them directly, even calling twice to try to get the answer I wanted on an issue, and it worked!
Newb Question: Will I be able to download the games onto more than one PC?

Hi Diane! Yes I thought I would have no luck, but always worth trying..lol
I have never ordered from Amazon before(probably the only person in the world that hasn't!)
and have been impressed with the efficient ordering process and the way they let one track the order..
Some online companies are maybe as good but not as aware of customer service.
That pre ordering sounds GREAT!Posted 14 years ago # -
Terri, I will certainly let everyone know if Amazon gives me a rebate!
Yes I figured that it was like that; it's ok, $5 will not make or break me.
:)I have purchased cd games before, once you load the game, usually you don't need the cd to play it after that, but it depends on the company.
I remember Syberia had to be played with the cd in, (think they were worried about piracy) but ones from Hoyle and similar companies didn't require the disc.Posted 14 years ago # -
Tailteann, I will try that!
Good advice!
Oh yes I am sure that you will be able to put the games on more than one computer.
Yes it is still a great deal at even the original price!
:)UPDATED:..
Got an email back from amazon."I'm sure it's disappointing to see the lower price on the "Play! The Ultimate Casual Game Collection" you recently purchased. Our prices regularly change, and the price you paid when your order shipped on December 17 was the lowest price we were able to offer at the time.
We consistently offer competitive prices on everything we carry because we know low prices are very important to our customers. You can visit our pricing policies in our Help pages to read more."
So it was nice that they replied so quickly and I am ok with them not refunding the difference.
always worth trying..Posted 14 years ago # -
If the price goes down anymore, please DON'T POST IT - LOL.

How funny about the Play! Collection from Amazon. I got mine from an Amazon Marketplace seller for about $9.99 (plus shipping), and after I ordered it, the Amazon price went up $1 a couple of times, and now it's back down to about what I paid for it. But Amazon prices are like that, especially when there are used or Marketplace versions of the same item available. I once bought a brand-new copy of an obscure play from Amazon for $.01 (plus shipping), when all the other copies available were priced at $45. and up!

In the several years that I've been ordering from Amazon.com, I think I have paid shipping no more then 2 or 3 times. Once was an item that didn't qualify for Super Saver and at least once from a 3rd party seller (out of print book). If at all possible, I group my purchases to avoid shipping. In the US, it's $25 minimum. I believe there is a Super Saver for each country that has an Amazon.com site but the amount varies from country to country.
For downloads, there is no shipping to worry about - just what country you're ordering from!

Delilah, yes I am not too bothered, as I see that Amazon is like that.
I have never ordered from the Marketplace sellers as I am a bit wary but am sure that if one gets one with a high rating , it's ok!
That is AMAZING about the price of the play!
Diane, I should have purchased another item as then I would have been eligable for the super saver ...(I think it is $25 minimum in Canada)Yes downloads are easier, but it is SURE nice to have the game on a disc as a back up!

My package came today and there are even more games than I thought.
I did get burned though. One of the games I just bought on BFG at full price, Alexandra Fortune, is on sale at Sandlot for half price. All of their games are half price if you use their code. I hope that's OK to post here.

Wow that was fast!
Mine won't arrive because it has to come up to Canada..
:(
But it's ok it will be a late present..Oh no, well it happens..
Still you got a good deal with the Amazon cd!
Have fun with it!And, thanks for the info about Sandlot games!

Yes, even if you did pay more for it from amazon it is still worth every penny. I think it was 13 something + tax when I got it, but it does come with a lot of games. If your desktop becomes really cluttered with desktop icons use fences. http://www.stardock.com/products/fences/ (it is a great program. I use the free version.)

I installed my first game from the CD today and my firewall gave me a warning that it was trying to monitor activity on my computer. I guess the games are from Alawar but I didn't think they could do it if you weren't coming from their site. I denied it so it should be OK but I wanted to give you all a heads up.

I'm still having a hard time getting these games to play. I keep getting warnings from my firewall about trying to access the trusted zone and trying to access the internet. With Sprill, if I click deny, the game doesn't open. I had to delete Natalie Brooks because it kept crashing but I had that problem with all the NB games even from the downloads. I'm currently playing Magic Encyclopedia which so far seems to be working OK.
On all three I have tried so far they have a custom cursor which is very hard to manipulate. So far everything I have installed has been from Alawar and tries to connect to the Alawar site. If you buy games on discs, shouldn't they be stand alone and not have to connect to a website?

I don't know, though that really doesn't bother me. It is no big deal to me. A couple years ago it might have been, but not now. I wouldn't be worried about that if I were you and Alawar isn't a bad site anyway. If they collect anything it is anonymous information.
One time a couple years ago I was subscribed to verizon games on demand and I was using zone alarm pro and it gave me some warning that it was monitoring me too and I thought this isn't right. That is more than gamepass and what you do is you can play all the games, but you never own any of them. It is similar to gamehouse's funpass. I had that a couple months and didn't keep it because of that, you couldn't play offline, and you never own any of the games. You couldn't even buy the games if you wanted to.
I am not worried about it and I wouldn't be worried about it either Terri. Whatever it is it is little. Install your games and forget about it. It is really worth it.
I gave up my spyware crusade a long time ago. I use to download bunches of antispyware to see if I was infected, lol. Till I realized I was messing my computer up more by putting the antispyware programs on it. I don't download anything now besides games from gamehouse (gamepass+game with advertisements sometimes),sandlot games (free game of the week), bigfish (free games from promotions).
Here is the company who sells it http://games.viva-media.com/
There is a icon for it when you install. My guess is they give you all the games for a low ammount to promote their game club. No worries, be happy. I am. I love the game collection and I have no problems with my computer none at all.
