I recently came across a turn-based games site and I’d like get some feedback. It takes what people enjoy participating here with Word Association, and kicks it up a notch. The gameplay is similar to correspondence chess, but you enter your moves with the mouse instead of emailing cryptic text moves. It's easy to play 5 or 10 games at the same time, and it takes just minutes a day to enter your moves. Games available include Chess with 14 variations, 7 Backgammon variations, Jamble (a word game) twelve Checkers variations, 4 Battleboats variations, 9 Reversi variations, 5 Stack4 Variations, Sabotage (a Stratego clone with some twists). Over 60 different games and variations.
You could play turn-based games over email, but that means giving out your email address. Here your email address does NOT appear anywhere on the site, allowing you to play games and converse with others without worry. You can tell a far-away family member or a friend at work or in class about ItsYourTurn.com, and start your own mini-tournament! No one has to be logged on at the same time.
No doubt about it, real-time games are fun. But sometimes you want to play games with people you already know, and you can't always be online at the same time as your friends. Here you make moves when it's convenient. It's like phone tag, only more fun. Here are some more particulars:
- Low graphics for fast page loads.
- Play with who YOU want, not with whoever is in the lobby at the time.
- There’s an “Invite A User” feature.
- Post a chatty message to your opponent with your move.
- You can review any past board positions, all the way back to the first move.
- Games are stored on the server for 3-4 years, so you can review past games after they are completed.
- No time limit. Take a year to finish a game if you wish.
- Your email address is never shown on the site. Make new online friends securely and safely.
- Send private messages to any one of the thousands of users.
- Tournaments are a great way to meet and play with serious gamers. Tournaments start every Tuesday morning (signups close Monday night).
- Ladders allow you to see how you rank with other players on the site. Start at the bottom, and move your way up!
- It's simple: No Java, no Flash, no downloads needed.
- Players don't have to be logged on at the same time -- choose when you want to play, and who you want to play with.
This is all free!!! Play for free for months or years if you like. A paid membership is optional but are you ready for this, the only thing you get is being able to have more than 20 games in progress at the same time, you can’t start another. When you finish games and your number of games in progress drops below 20, then you can start more games. Real rough eh?
Like I said I’d really like to know what you think about all of this. Is this something or is this nothing? Here’s the homepage:
