You may need to activate TWICE once as admin and once as your usual ID (Or make sure your usual login ID has administrator permissions when you run activate.exe).

@BuBBy
I suppose MS 'indexing' can be unchecked when you have this fast as lightning search program installed?
This might speed up things even more.
I am glad they *did* give your keyboard back to you... :)Posted 15 years ago # -
Yes you can stop & disable the indexing service - it always seems to want to index your files when you are busy working on something else anyway.

i have administrator permissions when running.i have used giveaway since its startup & have never faced any problems before.each time i start this prog it gives a error
"cannot initialize search core error800706BA.please reinstall the program"
after clicking on ok the prog starts but shows 30 day trial.if you want i can send the screenshots.Posted 15 years ago # -
Downloaded OK
Activated OK
Installed OK - no mention of 30 day trial
but when I attempt to do a search all I get is a pop-up which says "Unidentified error please reinstall the program”
I have reinstalled three times with the same outcome every time.
I have also noticed that when you go Start/Search it should expand to show Search GT as per the screenshot on their website - I get no expansion choice.
This is the first time that I have ever has any problem with a GAOTD program.
Any ideas?Posted 15 years ago # -
I have the same error message as ulysses9776, even after activating twice (though I log in as admin anyway). I also get the 30 day trial message.
It is very rare that I have problems with GOTD downloads, but this appears to be one of those rare times. If anyone does have a solution I will be pleased to hear it.Posted 15 years ago # -
i am able to download search gt. run the activation & installation. I get that I have an invalid registration code, not even a 30 day trial. i am running vista home, installing in
XP mode with administrator rights. It seems to install properly, will allow configuration , but after it tells me that I have an invalid key, it disables search. I have tried reinstalling & running activation b4 and after and it always says successfully activated.
I would really like to try this software if anyone knows a cure.Posted 15 years ago # -
Just something I noticed when I installed Search GT: After you install and have the run Search GT option checked on the final page in the setup wizard, you'll see it saying 30-day trial. I just closed the window and used the shortcuts it installed and it'll show me that the thing's registered to Giveawyaoftheday. Remember to activate first. If you're still having a trial after installing, activate again, and it should work.

GMMan - don't know if you were talking to me. . . doesn't work for me.

Me? Just generally announcing when I came here. Now I'm talking to you. Look at the giveaway page. It says "Windows 2000/XP/2003 Server", not Vista, so I'm assuming that it's not fully compatible. Quoted from website: "Vista is not supported yet!" I'm not sure if that applies to activation, but if you want to try again: uninstall, reboot, activate, reinstall. It's still unlikely to work.

If you read comment #1 or look at the Official Search GT website - this software will not run on Vista. (running something in Vistas "XP Mode" doesn't make it XP).
Search GT is NOT for windows Vista.
