My review of Scarab Ball:
Scarab Ball can be summed up in one word: incomplete. From the lack of different levels to the lack of powerups of any sort to the inability to know what the next color will be, it is riddled with missing features that are considered givens in the genre.
Even barring the alpha-level finish, the game simply isn't very fun. Rather than having to estimate the necessary angles to match bubbles(or whatever these rotund objects are), the player has a cursor to aim with. A cursor. This gets rid of any chance that the game might have had at being fun, and makes it an incredibly boring click-fest. If the general lack of features is factored in, it's even worse.
The graphics are, to put it bluntly, generic. It's the same old colored circles, the same old second-rate Photoshop paintings, and the same old gold-ish menu fonts. Even worse, there are absolutely no animations within the game except for the surprisingly small explosions of the balls exploding. The way that the bubbles wiggle when hit is a nice effect, but its novelty quickly fades.
The sound is actually bad. The sound effects are sparse and badly-done; from the muffled dog-bark of the shots to the crunching sound as the balls fall apart, the sounds are simply unappealing. The music doesn't fit the theme very well, with its dim electric guitars and occasional drumming - it makes a half-hearted effort to sound Egyptian with a few minor chords, but fails.
It's an Egyptian-themed casual game. Could it get any more generic?
Overall, I give Scarab Ball a score of four out of ten(three for gameplay, five for graphics, four for sound, and four for theme). It's an already generic Bust-A-Move clone, but when the general lack of finish is factored in, it becomes even worse.
Small side note: There is no option to change screen resolution. What a joke.
