I just downloaded and installed Smart Data Recovery within the time frame, and when I go to register, it says "This is an evaluation version" "You can restore 3 files only". Then it will not accept my registration info even though the info was already pasted into the dialog box for that info. I can still get to a point where I can test it though. Am I missing something here, or is this simply a trial and not a FREE version, or am I doing something wrong. I am new and apologize if I am missing something here.

I had the same thing happen tt. I did go ahead and enter the codes (C & P) and it accepted them, but I still don't know if it is a full or evaluation version. Doesn't help that I am too inexperienced to go looking at files etc. to see what is going on for fear of causing more problems. (I'm dangerous on this thing. - I can mess things up in a split second.!!!!)

OK, now I see. The username if Giveawayoftheday, not my name--DUH!!!!!!!! I got it going now. Guess that's what readme.txt is all about, if you read it closely. My bad!!

Open the program,(start it)then look for the "about" symbol or icon,in this program it is not the(?)It looks like a large ( i ).
Just hover the pointer over it and it should say "about".
Click on this and a window will open up and tell you if you have it registered.
It will say the name is GAOTD and the reg# that was in the readme file.Posted 16 years ago # -
Thanks scubaguy! I did that and it says it is registered to GAotD, but no reg#, just a ver#. Does that mean that it is the full version or might it still be the evaluation version? Sorry I seem to be such a "dummy" about these things.

My mistake mine says the same thing as yours,
Registered to GAOTD and ver.#
This means it should be the full version and not just a trial ver.
I did notice that one of the opening screens says ( Try Smart PC )and under that it says ( - free 30 day trial ) that is an add for another of their programs, ignore it.
Don't feel like a dummy,we all have to learn at some time, besides I doubt that I could drive a tractor,as you said you live on a farm.
Farmers Rule!!!!

scubaguy - just thought I would mention the program is a lemon (in a big way). For a program you can rely on - the freeware options I mention in the comment section are a much, much better choice. :) Just thought I'd mention it because normally a lot of us don't pay to much attention to the comments section, but today I made an exception (for some reason).

@ BuBBy
Just looked at the comments page,I see what you mean, also the thing about the dual monitor situation and the window opening in the middle of the screens.
I will uninstall and go for the other programs that you listed.
Thanks for the intervention!!To OldandSlo
Do you understand what Bubby is talking about, incase you don't know Bubby is one of the Mod's and is far more knowledgeable then me,you also may want to follow his advice.....
If your unsure of what he's talking about let me know I'll be glad to help.Posted 16 years ago # -
Thanks scubaguy!! I do just ignore those pop-ups, though they can be annoying! I've been using a computer long enough (months, but not minutes) to know more than I do, but it just seems like every time I learn 1 thing, there are 3 more that crop up (pun intended) to take its place and I don't have the time to figure it all out. Being on dial-up doesn't help with the time thing either, as all DL's take a long time, comparatively, and if I try to do much of anything while the DL is running, the thing disconnects and I lose the DL or it becomes corrupted. Driving the tractor is easy, it's the other controls that are used to do the operations required that are the hard part. LOL!! I don't think that farmers rule, but we do feed people and I think that is very important too. Later.

Bubby. I have looked at those and DL'd some. So your advice would be to now uninstall the offering today? Thanks for the info.

OldandSlo
Correct, about what Bubby said, sorry for the confusion.
About the other day when you had trouble registering ( IntegryDesk ).
I had forgot that I copied the links that other commentors were suggesting as alternatives to the (IntegryDesk Prog.)So if you missed the install, let me know and I will post the links I copied, think all were free but one, and you don't have to worry about a time limit to d/l them.Posted 16 years ago # -
I'm Back, to quote a governor of a western state. I haven't had a chance to see if IntegryDesk works or is registered or not. I would guess "NOT". Thanks for the offer and I might want the info at a later date if you still have those links available then, - don't save them for me as I know how much "stuff" can accumulate on these things - but for now I need to log off get some things done. Thanks again. Later

I have to go and shovel snow now,we are getting hit with a blizzard right now, over a foot of snow.
I will post those links later this evening,so you can bookmark them, and look at them at your convenience.Posted 16 years ago # -

Here are the links to use for substitutes to ( IntegryDesk Prog.)Got these from the comments page for that day.Hope they help.Posted 16 years ago # -
To: scubaguy Thanks for the info. I will follow it up. We missed the snow you received. It came as rain here. (Approx. 3" and much flooding.) At least we don't have to shovel it, but we do have to pump out basements. Later.
