I down loaded the 3d marine screen saver the other day that you had as free for the day. Now it is popping up & asking me to register & put in the #. Is there a step or a link that I missed or is this how all the freeware that you advertise works, only accessable as a trial?

Every giveaway can be activated with the usual trial restrictions removed for that install. Getting prompted for a serial # each time you run it is possibly a good sign you have missed a step or something didn't work right.
Every download contains a "readme.txt" file with instructions on how to Activate the software for free. The zip file probably also contained a file "Activate.exe" that needed to be run before installing the screensaver. (I can't say for sure because I didn't actually download that giveaway).
You probably missed this step. As this step can only be done while the giveaway is running you are probably out of luck for that screensaver - but it may be offered again, or each Sunday there is normally a different screensaver offered.
If you have problems installing or getting any future giveaways running, just jump in these forums - there are lots of people who have installed a few giveaways before and can probably help you out until you get the hang of it.

Thank you. As this was my 1st d/l I did everything wrong LOL. Have added your site to my fav's as this is an awesome thing you got going here. Thanks again & you'll probably be hearing from this newbie again as I'm sure you'll have something else I can't live without. :)

krstnvnc,
Welcome!
Another tip: Be sure the software is not running at the time you "Activate" it. Then, once it is activated correctly - You will always get a new window that opens up with the words "Name of the Software activated - what next?" If you don't, look (behind large windows) for little boxes that need your input or give further instructions. If you didn't find a file "Activate.exe", the "Install.exe" probably handled the activation process - this is when you will most likely find little hidden boxes that you need to process.
Once you have cleared all the boxes (and done everything in the 'Readme') start the software, hit the "Help" button, go to the bottom of the list (usually) and select "About". This should open a box that states whether the software is registered (usually to Giveawayoftheday) or unregistered. If you don't see a statement that it is registered, turn it off, run "Activate" again and turn it back on. Re-check the "Help"/"About" sections and if it still isn't registered, come here and look for a topic that suggests other people are having the same problem. If you find one - read it - if you don't, start one - help will be forthcoming!
Since you didn't mention it, you may not have noticed - in the upper right-hand corner of the first page there is also a game given away every day. Enjoy!
