   to see for yourself. The folks at Intuit are making their QuickBooks Simple Start 2008 for Windows available for free. This isn't a cut down or limited version, it's the same full featured app you'd buy for real money. QuickBooks Simple Start is designed for first-time users, so it doesn't import data from other accounting packages, but other than that it's got everything for your small business.

   sweet - thanks for posting this one!

   FYI: the file you download from the website is *not* QuickBooks. it is a "download manager" of sorts, designed to do the actual QuickBooks download. so, once you get the tiny file from the page, run it and let it do its download thing :)

   Yes, that's true, tater.

   Once the small file downloaded the actual program, and placed it on my Desktop, I just moved it from there, into an archive folder, then deleted the small download manager of theirs.

   Now, the real program waits for the time that I need to install it.
