In the comments on the download page there was some concern about extra software installed along with the GOTD, K-ML. While the KC Software download page does carry this disclaimer, the only extra I found monitoring the install was 3 Internet shortcuts added to the desktop.
"Regular installer. May contain sponsors like Relevant Knowledge and/or Somoto.
NoRK NoRK installer. Does not contain RelevantKnowledge but may contain Somoto .
Lite Lite installer. Does not contain any sponsor.
Zip Portable (Zip). Does not contain any sponsor. "
The trial & GOTD versions are different, though it appears only the file timestamps differ -- both will register. K-ML is a VB [Visual Basic] program -- installation adds 88 files, updates 17, adds 1291 registry entries, & modifies 88. Universal Extractor won't expand the packed setup file, so I can't say for sure what's included. Of the 11 VB files I recorded being added to Windows system folder, 2 replaced files located in Common Files\ Microsoft Shared -- K-ML setup does include more than 11 VB files, but since I already had the VB6 runtime installed, they did not show up comparing before & after snapshots. The majority of new registry entries were due to registering these VB files.

If I had to guess, I'd say the partner KC Softwares talks about in their docs etc. is the developer of some few of those 11 VB files... It was popular to license VB code libraries that offered new features or better performance, and it seems that's what the devs did.
From comments on the GOTD download page...
"There are several problems with this software. The first is you agree to accept “partners’ software”. "
