Someone else has just posted the same query in the game discussion forums. The following is my reply:
It has to be something to do with your computer Try clearing out the internet cache; sometimes the cookies specific to the page you are downloading from become corrupted. Purge your cache then try again. Other things to try are using download managers. If you use firefox, it comes with one, if using I.E. try using one of the free ones that are readily available:

You could also try rebooting your modem and/or router to see if that fixes the problem.
I'm sure the tech savvy community members will shed more light on the problem so check back later if none of my suggestions work to see if anyone else has left a suggestion.

No you shouldn't need a download manager, and IE8 is referring to internet explorer as your browser. Personally I use firefox as my browser.

Another idea (gismo) is for you to temporarily disable your firewall, anti-spyware & anti-virus programs, as they may interfere with downloads. As an example, many months ago Zone Alarm interfered (in a major way) with my GOTD downloads, and temporarily disabling it did not help - but when I uninstalled it, the problem was solved. By the way, not all firewall programs are as disruptive as Zone Alarm.

Internet Properties > Reset all zones to default level.
and test to see if it fix don't for to do a clean fist, you not say if it XP or windows 7 and if it IE 8 or IE 9
if it windows 7 it in the download folder or temp.

To learn about download managers you could read this:
http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-download-manager.htm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Download_Manager
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_download_managers
Or the help files and webpages of the download manager of your choice.
e.g.: http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/index.htm
Though you don't need a download-manager, I would recommend to use one, especially for bigger downloads or when you are on dial-up or have a slow connection prone to interruptions as you can Increase your download speed and resume broken downloads .I would never recommend to disable your security software (but that's just me), instead you should learn to use it and to whitelist (allow) certain programmes.
To learn more about the function of GOTD please read the FAQ:
