   These products I installed:

   1AVCenter
   April 13, 2010 and again on January 6, 2011

   I installed these and made sure that the "About" section, or equivalent of the software stated, "Registered to Giveaway of The Day," something I always verify after every GOTD installation. Was there anyplace on the page that said they were only offering the Giveaway for a limited number of days? Mine says it was a 12 day evaluation version when I open it this morning, but I was able to use it for several months after it was installed, and I never allow my applications to automatically check for Updates or Install Updates, so I didn't change the version number of the installation.

   Did these guys decide to stop partnering with GOTD? Just curious. Their stuff was crap anyway, no big loss, but seriously, a giveaway is a giveaway. Cheap behavior like that doesn't build good will. Maybe they realized their products don't work, and got out of the software business? I couldn't even get either app to record the audio from my PC's microphone, something they claimed it could do was record audio. I got an idea this morning to give it another try, and discovered both software apps just created a pop-up that said they expired after 12 days, or I could buy a $99.99 license.

   It just irks me when these people take back their free stuff, and it isn't even a year old yet. They should say what it's expiration day is on the Giveaway day. It must suck when your software company isn't selling any units, and people aren't going to cough up $100 for something a $40 application can do. Most sensible people aren't going to pay more than $30 - $40 for a software application that is reliably renowned to do what 1AVCenter/Capture claimed they could do, but actually do it well.

   Have you used any registry cleaners recently? these can often delete registration details and thus deactivate your programs. If you have I'd try and recover the files via the cleaner. alternatively you could try restroring to a previous restore point (though this would deactivate later giveaways).

   Hi, tekknokat.

   I'm sorry you lost the software; like WR said, there can be a lot of reasons, why an activation breaks.

   In this case I remember, that 1AV programmes were broken by another (a similar) Giveaway installed at a later date.
   This fact has been reported in the comments and even some time ago here.
   I'm sorry that I can't say any more, as I didn't install both of them, I had too often problems with multimedia tools.
   Maybe one of our other users can recall the other programme.

   Thank you all for responding and helping me figure out this issue. I went to the link above, and it appears they are still assisting GOTD users with getting registration keys at the link in Graylox last post.

   It's nice to see they are honoring their GOTD users.
