This is 64 bit software. What I don't like is the DRM -- this installs & requires/runs the Nalpeiron Licensing Service, which from time to time I've found a PITA. I've got software that does the same stuff, so I just saw no reason to add this to the mix considering the added risk from that DRM. [IF it helps understanding my mindset, I just got done **Hopefully** troubleshooting & fixing a problem caused by a software update that was giving me BSODs, for the 1st time in years it feels like.] That said, Nalpeiron might not give you the slightest problems -- Google it & see what you think.
Now what Perfect Effects does is include a file browser & cataloging plus several adjustable effects, each accompanied by snapshots showing you what applying each preset will look like. The GUI does appear nicely done, and there are more effects than a good many apps offer.
Installation does a nasty bit of taking over too many file types, but you're probably used to that -- still annoyed but used to it. Otherwise it's not too bad on the registry, though it's spread out a bit on your hard drive... You get the program's main folder, in both Program Files & Program Files(x86), an Installshield folder, a folder with samples added to My Pictures, 2 folders added to Program Data [1 onOne & 1 Nalpeiron], a new folder added to [UserName]\ AppData\ Roaming\ as well as one folder added to the [UserName]\ AppData\ Roaming\ Adobe\ folder, & finally nlssrv32.exe added to Windows\ System32. As usual for software using the Windows Installer [.msi file], there are a lot of installer/uninstall entries in the registry, & as is more common than not with larger apps, Microsoft runtimes are installed to Windows\ WinSxS.
Total registry changes recorded = 631, but that includes a lot of MUI Cache entries that are more-or-less meaningless. Do note that I can only track the registry in Win7 64, so there may be files added that I missed -- I don't think so, but I can't say I didn't miss anything with 100% certainty.
