I've now read the commennts and see that users reported activation problems from 5 a.m. to nearly 10 p.m. I see also that many people just gave up. So I guess clods who thought they were pretty good with computers who have activation problems miss out. I can' help thinking that where there is this unusually large volume of activation problems, maybe the deal whould be extended for a day or repeated. Oh well.
I wasn't the only inept activator

Purely FWIW, I think the plain, simple answer is that not everyone is as honest as you are. :-)
One of those slippery slope sort of things, how do you determine who's had a legit problem & who is simply making something up because they either missed deadline or hope they'll con someone into giving them a free key they might distribute? The devs who provide the software for GOTD have probably heard everything, & like anyone who sells stuff, works retail etc., have come to have a rather cynical view of such claims. And in their mind if it became Giveaway of the next couple of Days, we might not have something new to play with every morning.

Sorry you had problems, brayesq - hopefully, next time, it will be much better.
Mikiem2, you make a good point- developers cannot distinguish between honest & dishonest people.Posted 12 years ago # -
I didn't realize that if I was sent a link it would not be a gotd link and could be mis-used. In fact, I began posting my problem after 9 pm eastern (5 hours before the end of the deal) and emailed the developeed at 9:43. I am a 71 year old retired lady with a home business in upstate New York, not running any scam. This software looks good, but given my income, I can't experiment with and discard $$ software as I once did. The developer offered me the software half-price $25 with a year of free updates, but I declined. This is a promotion he runs regularly, and I believe my problem resulted from a glitch in his activation process. So I believe that he is the one who lost a potential very loyal customer - I use software I like for years. I am philosophical about GOTD offers. Most are not useful for me. When one comes along that I am enthusiastic about, but has registration/activation problems, and I miss out because of it, I come closer to unsubscribing. My loss, I realize. Maybe GOTD should try to keep its relationship with its subscribers by having a solution for problems that go beyond the deadline. I know for sure that scammers can solve coding problems to steal software licenses.
