Something has happened to my ability to download the folder with the unzip selection. When I try to open a zipped file, my computer begins to flash VERY QUICKLY and I can't get it to stop without manually shutting it down. Does anyone have any ideas about why this is happening ? And how can I fix it? I've missed several apps that I would really use a lot.

Are you using a separate program (like winzip or 7zip) to unzip these downloads?

I tried to download 7zip, but the same thing happened. I've always used whatever comes with Windows. I'm running Vista 64bit, and until Monday, I've NEVER had a problem. I can't understand how this just "happened". It's the same thing that happened before when I couldn't download ANYTHING. I had to take my computer to "out of the box" in order to download again. But, of course, I lost every app I had.

Run a full system virus scan if you haven't already, verify that you have free space on your hard drive, then:
1) Open Explorer and find a small zip file. Can you open the archive? Your problem may not be a zip problem but an installation problem.
2) Visit Windows Update and see if there are critical or important updates that haven't been installed. If yes, install them and try today's download.
3) If all updates have been installed then see if there were any Windows Updates installed between your last successful installation and when you observed the problem. If so, you can uninstall the update(s), turn Windows Updates Off (otherwise the update will automatically reinstall), and attempt to install today's download.

Don't turn OFF Windows Update - just set it to ask you before it updates. That's the way I have it set all the time. It's not happy (colored yellow rather than green) but it accepts my orders.

I think this is any virus problems that attacks on the unzip file. maybe this is possible so i think you have to install any good antivirus and then scan your system or maybe this problems occurs cause of any missing file in software.

1)Do a virus & spyware scan then You may need to Take Ownership of your Windows folder and grant yourself Full Control privileges to access some files and folders on your system, even if you are running as administrator
