I am about to install Red Guerilla in just a little while. I'll tell Y'all how it goes. I'm the verge of buying the new steam game, but I'll save that conversation for the other thread.

I've been meaning to get more and bigger hard drives to, I am constantly going into the red and recently i had to format 80gigs I had ready for linux for more windows space and now thats almost used up.lol
2 terabytes and I would be doing ok to. I need at least for back ups. I wasting 150 right now for my main drive back up, but not whole pc. I'd lose it all if the whole pc went down.
They do have some pretty big solid state flash drive drives now of course they are outrageously expensive for anything over 40 to 80gigs.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That was me that mention the site with unlimited bandwidth. I managed to get into the site unlimited part on an invite. You have a pretty good memory. That was way back when I got my camera and was trying to post the pics.

I finally learned how to properly use it today. It isnt like using Divshare, It is layed out for more experienced users and has give you the options for bbcode, html format, and it also doesnt have mid-size that I have found yet. Though the thumbs are easy and click-able.

The full size looks really good though. Tell me if you see a difference. It is suppose to output in 1080p, I believe, if you pic is rated that high.

These are from Stargate Worlds this was the one I was thinking about. It is tied up in court with like 8 law suits and is the one that blew all that money. idiots
Guess StarGate Resistance is a knockoff.

Oh, if your interested rabbit in unlimited bandwidth, send me a pm and I'll see what I can do. I know the site alone offers like 2 or 5 gigs of free space.

edit: I also remember I made a post with thumbs that if you clicked them the full screen pop up. That could be what you are thinking of to.

Am allowed to earn £75,before benefit adjusted to suit,as WR says DLA remains.Situation similar in that 'thinking' jobs are out, also physical labour.A pity as I also enjoyed my work(one day hammer and anvil, the next callibrating machinery etc.)
Possibly computer related work, but government make it difficult to earn a decent wage to start out with.

This deal is still on. Make sure you purchase it via the US page and not the Euro or UK site. On the UK page it's £8.95 (that’s nearly three times as much as from the US page. (You'll pay about £3.50 if you purchase it via the US page); and over 12 Euros. There’s a toggle to the top right of the page. click on the downward facing arrow next to the flag you see and then select the US flag. Thankfully you can purchase the game from any one of the sites this time.

I don't know when the change over is going to happen because I didn't see the offer until Friday last week, but it's usually a Monday. It could change any time from now. In the past it's changed around 4pm GMT, which is 7 hours away.

This could be your last chance at getting one of 2009's best games, and, in my opinion one of the best games I've bought in many years. (Really). :)

No problem re the images. It didn't take long to adjust them then upload to the site I use now for posting. (Someone mentioned it in the comments section before Christmas that they had set up a free upload site with unlimited bandwidth). I was previously having to create a new photobucket account every week with a new Email address. It was getting unwieldy, lol.

As for Comrade, I'd avoided installing it for a long time, always preferring to go to my fileplanet account, but decided to install it this morning and am impressed. It took ages to scan my computers for games (There’s a couple of Terabytes of disc space on each computer and they are full of games, lol). I need to be really mercenary and go delete most of them as I rarely or never play most of the games. It would free up so much space. I had to buy yet another largish (1.5Tb) external today as all my drives are almost full. I wanted to buy a 2Terabyte drive, but just didn't have enough money in my wallet so had to settle for the next best thing.

I hope they create flash drives so big sometime in the future. I still don't trust any drive that's got moving parts inside. I used to use DVD's to store my back ups, but loads of games from the last few years are too big to store on a single DVD plus every so often I get cyclic redundancies on a back up disc, which means I can't access the back up.

My DLA (Disability Living allowance) would remain the same depending upon what sort of work I took; the pension and the government money would have to be reassessed though;. However it's unlikely I'll ever be able to go 'out' to work again and anything that requires a head that can think quickly or require me to hold a lot of information is also out. I reckon I may be able to do some internet related job that allowed me to do things in my own time, but that’s about it. This is sad, because I loved working. Being able to socialize with work colleagues was part of the pleasure of going to work. I loved both of my last careers (Intensive Care Nurse and Health and Social Care Lecturer)

yea sorry about the graphics, looks nice all blown up.The dial up users would be stuck on this page for awhile.lol
I linked them straight from their site. They had those little thumbs that popped up into middle size pic after you click them. I didnt expect them to take up all that space.
I did however take some screen shots and was gonna post them in the hopes that you would fix it for me, since I missed the editing time limit or would you just delete the top links.

I'd already edited the images you originally posted, so deleted the ones you posted here.
  :)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I use to check out file planet to, but now I just use Gamespy Comrade for downloading and installing the D2d games, since alot of games require gamespy anyway.
One of the feature of it is that it gives you news on betas and stuff + tells you what games need patching. The biggest drawback is if you run the game finder manually it will see your steam games and you will a laundry list of them, but you dont have to launch steam to play them. I dont think- not 100% sure about that.

you know about this disability thing. I dont understand the system and its the same in both countries. If you are disabled, they make it were yo can not work period and penalize if you do. You would think they would reward you for trying.
The system is so screwed up.

I've been arguing with a friend about this for awhile now. He claims I could work a couple of hours a day. This doesnt count me being an endangerment on the road, going to and from work. I tell him, I would love to, but the system doesnt work that way, you either work or dont work. There is no middle ground. There should be, that way people who are are really disabled and want to supplement their income a little can try to and not penalized by losing their disability all together.

Looks like the Uk system is similar.

Nice one Txnnok; you'll have to tell me if you think the game was worth $5, lol Did you get a copy Deserthead? With the graphics set to max this is a beautiful game. I've just checked and its still on deal. But it's going to change any time soon. So if you haven't got this game yet do so now. I promise, for the price it's going to be the bargain of the year. Considering I was paying four times as much for arcade games 2 years ago, this is simply amazing. (I can't say that enough). Check out the you tube videos I linked to in the first post of the thread to get an idea of the game play.

The Stargate game looks intersting. I'm also a fan of the series (though I stopped watching it when it started to diversify. (Just didn't have the time to watch when the kids were younger, and now I fall asleep when I try to watch most programs. Still, I love the series and ths is definitely a game I'll be buying.

I keep missing the fileplanet beta's. I don't bother to check the site often enough anymore. I used to be on site every day downloading mods and maps for my favorite games, but since installing Steam, I've not bothered simply because I'm buying to many games to get to the mods stage, lol.

w.r.t. the pension scheme; I was lucky that my teaching union had fought for some good retirement plans with excellent protection for those reitring through ill health. The retirement through ill health scheme gives a member the right to draw a pension no matter when they retire. Though, as with any good thing, its recently been changed. Thankfully my teaching experience goes back to prior to the changes so I got my pension; such as it is. It's around 20% of a full pension, but I'm not complaining. Anything is better than nothing. It definitely helps each month.

darn it, I wasted all that time downloading it for nothing. The free beta closed over the weekend.

I may go ahead buy it though. I'm a huge stargate fan and they only want 20 bucks for it. I guess they are just trying to recoup their money after the first company that tried to make screwed everything up and blew the money on dumb stuff. They even had a drag racing car. They were just pi$$ing money away and then the collapse happend. Before that though the banks kept warning them, but they didnt listen, all us fan were hoping they would pull their stuff together. We couldnt believe that they would give that much money to a new company.

Anyway, this is probably the scrapings of what was there, but I can see a big fan base holding it together and it slowly growing into a good game.
I'm not saying it isnt already.

I've spent more on bigger pieces of junk.

If y'all want to look at it here's the link. So far I think you have to buy it from D2D. http://www.direct2drive.com/2/9057/product/Buy-Stargate:-Resistance-Download

wohoo, I made it but I was late. Like 2 hours. I bought it at 4 am this morning.

First I'm gonna test out this Star Gate Resistance Beta from File Planet I got in on and then I'm gonna start downloading it.
----------------------
Looks like all countries make it hard to get disablity, I dont understand if they made you disabled deserthead how they can with hold payments, technically you are retired or do you have to retire from being disabled. very odd logic.

I'm assuming this is what it is,gathering from rabbits info to.

Not a lot to get by on,but somehow we all manage to get a few games to keep us sane.

Hi Txnnok; I hope you make it. the game is well worth full price , so for the deal price its got to be a steal.

As for disability payments, I get a monthly payment from my Disabilty Living Allowance DLA), I get fortnightly payments from the government for another disability allowance and I get a monthly payment from my teachers pension; (though thats a minimal payment because my contributions weren't that much as I entered the teaching profession late in life). Thankfully, becasue I qualify for the first allowance above I get my pension now as opposed to when I officially retire on age grounds which would be another 13 years away. The benefits still in no way amount to what I was earning before the accident, but its enought to keep us afloat. My wife is still working, but she's had to cut her hours to 40% full time to help care for me.

I got greedy and over shopped a bit today buying some food. I thought I had conserved enough, though.

The good thing though is tonight at midnight is monthly payday for us disabled people. Is it the same for you there in UK rabbit? monthly basis and all or do y'all get payed like people, on weekly or bi-weekly basis.

Anyway. I remember D2D telling me that their site rolls over at 2 am pst, regardless I will still get my money at 12 am and there it will be 10pm, so as long as I stay awake I should be ok with a 2 hour lead.oh my time zone cst. just in case anyone wondered

Yes I do. I also have the D2D copy. I picked up the second copy via one of the developer packs this Christmas. I'm hoping to interest my son in playing a multiplayer game (Thanks for reminding me though - Christmas was a manic time with both the D2D and Steam deals). I managed to avoid purchasing any of the D2D deals though but only becasue I already had the games.

I'm also addicted to buying games. I have too many that I've still not played or only scratched the surface of. My largest embarrasement was purchasing a limited Edition copy of Silent Hunter 4 over two years ago. I paid more than twice the normal price for the game just so that I could get a tin lunch box made to look like the skin of a submarine, plus loads of other goodies (medal, mouse mat, deluxe recognition booklet, notebook for recording data, a pen {that never worked}, arm patch , music from the game and a few other things). I've still not played the game apart from installing it and doing a five minute tour; I even bought the expansoin pack that was released back in 2008 which has never even been installed yet.

I wasn't sure about the mid week deal, but after reading several reviews and seeing that a lot of Steam friends were buying it I though "for £1, why not". I'm glad I did because the game is actually quite reasonable. The graphics may be a little outdated, but the game play is excellent. The graphics remind me of 'Beyond Good and Evil' (another excellent retro game from the turn of the century), which reminds me, I've not checked out Good Old Games for a while.

Sounds like my kind of game. I tend to take long leave of absences from games before returning, so being able get into the game without wondering were I was is a big plus.
Thats one of the draw backs of alot of games. No time to full play them all.

Heck I just I just bought that a pack for $2 bucks on steam to/ Freedom Force. I dont need it either. I think I'm addicted to buying bargains. I did pass up the mid week madness, although it was killing me buy it since it was 2 dollars to. I just couldnt see myself playing it was the only reason I opted out.

Anyway,

Thanks Y'all for the info. I was had been wanting Red Faction before this, but Now I have 5 good reason to buy it.
Do Y'all really like D2d games? Being forced into Games For Windows, you cant even save a game with out being it being full updated on each game.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

By the way Rabbit, I know you got Battlestation Pacific on steam now, but they finally got the patch on D2d and it fixed the gameplay/ keyboard movement. I'm not sure if you remember it being real jittery and sloppy.

Definitely a fun game that is worth the money and more. I've thoroughly enjoyed it, along with the original 2 red faction games. Volition are the pioneers in destructible environments. They started it with the first Red Faction, and they're quickly perfecting it. I wouldn't say their new system on this game is perfect, but it's pretty darn close. The best part is that the damage you do stays! You can save the game and quit, take 3 weeks off, and come back and the pipe you plowed your car through will still be exactly the same along with all the other stuff you demolish. =D Something about breaking stuff brings the little boy out in me lol.

Txnnok, you must get this game. Yes it has singleplayer. There are several modes of play that include 3 single player modes. The game is one of the best games I bought in 2009 (and I bought nearly 400 of the darned things, lol); and it's one of the few gamesI'm always returning to. It's got brilliant graphics, great sound, (You really feel like you are on Mars, lol. There are an excellent variety of modes and the game engine allows you to destroy everything that's 'man made' (just about). I spent a week just destroying and redestroying a large bridge just because it was fun - trying to make it collapse in different ways.

I'm really amazed that you can get it so cheap. It is a digital download. If you want a disc, that can be purchased for a decent price as well. I bought the third copy of it from my local Game shop for less than £6, though that was while they had their January sale. It's now just under £10 (~$15). (The second opy cost even less because I bought one of those developer packs that had around 15 games in it that were on sale over the Christmas sale.

Direct 2 Drive are okay. I've bought quite a lot of games from them and have never had problems downloading them. You will need to download a download manager to get the downloads though.

Regards

Darn it, you beat me to it. I was just coming here to post this. Though Id say i was a bit late. This isnt entirely my fault though. It was gods or an act of god so to speak. I'll explain.

Yesterday power went out cause of ice storm and we just got power at about 6pm today. I am doing one of 2 things. I am getting a generator, which is terribly noisy or I am getting an dc to ac inverter and maybe a couple of small solar panels. I can get a extra car battery and swap it as needed in and out of the car for charging at night time or I can run a cord in from the car meant for 12 volt power and use the car as a generator.
I have natural gas heating so I am just powering the tv, cable box, modem and computer. Could just go with the computer and the modem as necessity.lol
------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, Red faction Guerrilla
Does this have single player? I wanna make sure its not the multiplayer only game or with red faction it maybe single player only game that I'm thinking of.

I guess if you got this for you and your kids to play together online, it must be alot of fun and have good graphics.

Yep, I think I'm gonna have to buy this.

Wow, Red faction Guerrilla for only $4.95. This is an amazing game wth destruction physics that almost look real. Sorry I missed posting this earlier. There’s only until Monday to take advantage of the deal. Well worth it. I’ve already bought 3 copies for me and my two children so that we can play online together. (though I paid full release price for the first copy) I’ve never seen it this cheap though. Its only been out since the autum (fall), so is still a relatively new title.

You can get it from the US pages of Direct 2 Drive HERE

The Game:

Set 50 years after the climactic events of the original Red Faction, Red Faction: Guerrilla allows players to take the role of an insurgent fighter with the newly re-established Red Faction movement as they battle for liberation from the oppressive Earth Defense Force. Red Faction: Guerrilla re-defines the limits of destruction-based game-play with a huge open-world, fast-paced guerrilla-style combat, and true physics-based destruction.

	Open World Guerrilla Warfare — You decide who, when, where and how to battle. Utilize guerrilla tactics, improvised weaponry, and modified vehicles to lead insurgent attacks on EDF targets. Launch attacks based on your own gameplay style, take on missions in any order you choose, or engage in destructive activities to weaken the EDF's grip on Mars.

	Strategic Destruction — Use destruction to your tactical advantage, setting ambushes or chain reaction explosions to attack enemy strongholds and permanently modify the game environment. Leverage fully-dynamic physics-based destruction to improvise on the fly: blow holes in a wall or floor to set an ambush or escape, take out a staircase to stop your pursuers, or drive vehicles through blown out walls.

	Evolving & Emergent Gameplay — Carve your path through an ever changing landscape as you improvise your combat tactics - mixing gameplay styles, vehicles, weapons and explosives to defeat the EDF.

	Epic Sci-Fi Setting — Explore the huge, unforgiving Martian landscape, from the desolate mining outpost of Parker to the gleaming EDF capital city of Eos; then tear through the fully destructible open-world environments swarming with EDF forces, Red Faction resistance fighters, and the downtrodden settlers caught in the cross-fire.

	Multiplayer Combat — There is no place to hide when you put your guerrilla warfare skills to the test in a variety of highly destructive multiplayer combat modes.
